When JWs used to have FUN!!!
by Amazing inwhen i started associating in the late 1960s the jws were very sociable and had frequent fun events.
here are some examples of the kinds of events we enjoyed, why they existed, and then the reason they were taken away:.
sports: being involved in school or professional sports was frowned upon, so the brothers in the hall would arrange for sports for every other weekend.

it seems like every other local needs talk is on independant thinking.

hi amazing -
its amazing to see what the different congregations allow or forbid across the country or even the world. in my hall, sideburns are pretty much forbidden and you can't do microphones if you have them longer than halfway down your ear. weird, eh?

JWs Message: ``How Great Are We?"
by Room 215 inwith their chronology in tatters, jehovah's witnesses have taken to preaching about their favorite subject: themselves.
i was taken to task when i made this suggestion in a thread not too long ago, but the october km furnishes abundant evidence in its list of available videocasette.. (as an aside, it seems that the society no longer objects to using the television as a medium to spread its message, now that technology's given it a way to make the viewer pay for tapes, rather than having to spend money on paid programming).. notice the titles: .
``united by divine teaching''.

Thursday night meetings remind me of those videos that channel 12 shows sometimes of the Nazi meetings in WWII

ok, i'm an active witness (right now) and i can tell you that the football rule - if there was one - is not in effect. at least in PA.
a good friend of mine is in a band that is getting to be known on the indie music scene and he's considered a witness in good standing and has no intentions of leaving. he's played in some well known bars in the philadelphia area.
all of the witness weddings i've been to in the last 10 years have involved "worldly" music and drunk Jehovah's Witnesses.
work days at the kingdom hall still exist.
R-rated movies are frowned on still.
The presiding overseer in my KH goes on vacation for the entire month of August every year - I don't think the "use your vacation time to pioneer" rule exists.
i'm not saying these rules didn't exist in California where you live, but here in suburban Philadelphia they don't and most of them never have.

sept 11 brings out JW blood-lust
by rcranor ini met a bunch of witnesses from my old congregation on a ferry to seattle a month ago.
i tried avoiding them but they spotted me and their was no escape.
they all seemed to be very jovial and asked me if i was going to the meetings.

i loved seattle! we are moving out there in March. I can totally relate to your experience - my mom has been telling me that its been so great since 9/11, because all of the inactive witnesses in her hall are attending again! my reply to her was that they didn't really care about God, and are seeking their own salvation and God will see thru that and kill them anyway - trying to use JW logic against her. That annoyed her pretty good, it was alot of fun.

BadWillie & Wife are the Local Needs!
by badwillie inlast night's meeting at our congregation was exactly 2 weeks since our public reproof.. my wife was in attendance.
the local needs talk was about...apostasy!.
this of course lets the congregation know exactly what our reproof was for.

Mike has brought up an extremely valid point. I believe it is only a matter of time before they request to meet with you again. As I explained before, the elder bodies in our area appear to have "internet spies" and could report back to your judicial committee. be prepared to defend your every move.

How Do We Respond to the WTS on the UN?
by hawkaw inoh hello, just little old me.. i want to talk about and ask a question about the watchtower's "spin" in the un fiascao.. based on my review of the case, there are 2 "spins" that need to be "counterspinned".. these wts "spins" that deserve responses are:.
1) the watchtower did not keep this un "association" a secret and the leaders were not hiding anything.. 2) the watchtower used this "association" to help promote its educational and voluntary work through out the world.
we only considered the support of the un charter in help our brothers get their religious freedom.

they cannot justify this course of action and will do anything to shut people up - see BADWILLIE's story. they are trying to destroy his life.

fading away quietly
by DIM inmy wife and i are moving 3000 miles away so that we can fade away as jehovah's witnesses.
i am looking for suggestions as to what i should do about our publisher record cards (keep them in pa?, get them forwarded to seattle?
) so that we can start our lives on the west coast with a fresh start and so we'll just be left alone...any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
