Well its been a little over 1 year since my wife moved from PA to WA in hopes of starting a new life....its amazing how things and people change over time. We've basically become much much happier people without the awful influence of the WTS...so relaxed in fact, that my wife is now pregnant and we are starting a family...i guess my "guys" worked alot better w / out the stress of the WTS....strange how people change too, one of our best friends, "collegegirl", isn't really close to us anymore and we've made a bunch of friends out here...I guess Satan really does bless good people. Yeah!

JW Urban Legends
by Azalo indid any of you hear any of the urban legends that jw's used to scare people into being deathly afraid of demons?
for example i remeber hearing that a child brough a smurf doll to a meeting and upon hearing the name jehovah uttered it got up and walked out.
got any j-dub urban legends?

I remember when I was a kid my mom told me about an experience where somehow the cartoon VOLTRON was actually based on the life of a demon named - you guessed it - VOLTRON. I'm not sure what the exact story was though.
In October, 2001, when I was still a (barely) active JW, a circuit overseer by the name of Bro. Dentler (can't remember his first name) announced off of stage at the Willow Grove, PA congregation that many many people had already received tainted blood as a result of the 9/11 attacks. It seemed like a blatant lie to me at the time, and in fact, he hesitated right before he said it. In hindsight, it was a blatant lie. I should have asked who his sources were...

What is your worst fear?
by Scully ina recent death in my family triggered my worst fear - as irrational as it may sound - into a very real possibility.. let me explain: as a global culture, we simply accept that when someone dies, those who care about them will want to gather and offer a meaningful tribute to the person and those who survive them.
with regard to my recently deceased family member - her own children decided against holding a memorial service for her surviving family, which included two children and their respective spouses, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
yes, we are spread out over 2000 miles.

That something would happen to my wife. I can't make it without her, I'd be a vegetable.

Good for you Funchback, I went about it another way....towards the end if I was assigned mics for a month, I made sure to not show up the entire month...I was taken off of the list about 10 months before I moved (nobody said anything to me though - good work Scott Shmidheiser, Dan Brusha, Jim Ritchie, Mr. Mulwinny and whoever else is an elder at Willow Grove, PA!)
I also "forgot" that I had the #4 talk two times in a row and I was never given a talk for the last 6 months I attended!

JW kids molesting kids......
by Smiles inwe know thw jw congregations have concealed adult pedophiles.
recently, we have been made aware that jw congregations are concealing the youngest of pedophiles, even ages 4-8.. unfortunately, most of the children have been molested themselves by either another jw or an non-jw.
but the molested children themselves are now molesting other children, while they "play" alone together at private homes or even outside the kingdom halls at night after meetings.. the parents and grandparents of the children are aware of the inappropiate behavior of their own children.

Masturbation was RULED OUT!! what could be a healthy outlet, was condemned and highly discouraged. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it a disfellowshipping offense?
You are wrong. Don't know where you got that from. You cannot be disfellowshipped for this.
The congregations I attended growing up - HATBORO, PA and WARMINSTER, PA had serious problems with kids molesting other kids.

I grew my hair obnoxiously long
My wife and I started taking the King James bible to meetings
We made it a point to miss one meeting a week (at least!)
For the last year, we never went out in service
I tried to give only bible based answers - if i answered at all
We started saying little "apostate" things to our friends

The Curse of Philly

the eagles have looked terrible all day, and donovan looks much worse this week than last week.
i don't know why i get my hopes up w/ the flyers, sixers, eagles, and phillies.

I'm a die hard Flyers, Sixers, and Eagles fans, but I found it very easy to forget about the Phillies once I moved out to Seattle...Safeco Field is an amazing field (hopefully what Philly is aspiring towards Funchback!) and once I saw Ichiro throw someone out at home from the outfield, i'm a Mariners fan!
I don't wanna second guess Reid, but man I was hoping for KOY once the 4th quarter rolled around - Donovan looked like how I thought he'd look last week!
