it always seemed to me that my mom admonished me out of anger or embarrassment of what her pioneer buddies would think rather than providing guidance. Anytime you do that to a child and you are not in a controlled state it equals child abuse. I think my mom would be really hurt if I said that to her, she's so brainwashed she probably has no idea.

Kingdom Hall Spankings
by JH inmost meetings i went to, children were brought to the washrooms in the back to be disciplined.
often i could hear a child yell or cry due to the spanking given by the parent.
people in the hall would have that look on their face meaning that it was alright to discipline a child by spanking him.

X-JW Hypocrisy.
by DJ intolerance : the capacity for or practice of recognizing and respecting the opinions, practices, behavior or beliefs of others.. sadly, there is a double standard on this board practiced by many.
i have had a spat with stinky pantz about tolerance and we have both apologized.
this defintion is here for the others who think that tolerance is something that only christians don't have much of!

I have no tolerance for idiotic religious opinions, XJW or JW, Catholic or Lutheran. Sometimes they can all sound a bit brainwashed.

I bought a 1991 Honda Civic in 1999 with 66,000 miles for $3400 and have only had routine work done on it (including timing belt type stuff)...and the insurance is LOW! I'd never part with it.
My wife owns a 2000 Ford Focus....we've put on 50,000 miles...no problems, excellent customer service. I'd highly recommend it.

Amazing!!
by DIM inwell, now that my wife michalina is 20 weeks pregnant with our first girl (or child i should say), isabelle rose, people who have treated us like we are dead for the last 15 months are coming out, pretending to be our friends all of sudden.
even people we considered friends when we were in pa who have basically shunned us want in our lives now - of course - we are having a baby!
this religion and people within it never cease to amaze me.

Hilary,
Sorry if I came off as an a-hole, I'm an unbearable music snob which my wife will attest to...

although I'd rather just let this one die, I can't help myself...you guys mistake me for a person who only listens to modern musical fluff....sorry, you've got the wrong guy...in fact i'm mostly a fan of underground music from the 60's (Love, Skip Spence, The Red Krayola), but I must say once again (to your un-ending aggravation!) Madonna is God and
Madonna is cutting edge!!

There are musicians of course who are at the cutting edge, Joni Mitchell for example. Pianists JohnTaylor and Lyle Mays spring to mind, and in the younger genre, John Mayer. These are people who cut edges again and again, but they are of course serious performers and can read music.
Honestly, is this some sort of joke? John Mayer? You mean the guy who sounds like every Jeff Buckley wannabee? I'm sorry, I'm an avid music fan, mostly underground music (The Chameleons, Associates, Babybird, Strangelove) and if you don't "get" Madonna, thats fine, but don't insult my musical taste. If you really want to hear cutting edge music, I advise you to pick up Babybird - The Original Lo Fi boxset right away or anything by the Chameleons or Super Furry Animals. Madonna is nothing compared to ALOT of bands, but for her, I think she's really pushing herself.

How can 144,000 be a literal number?
by Pleasuredome inhow does the wts explain that the sum total of symbolic numbers equals a literal number?
rev 7:4-8
logic says that if the sum parts are symbolic, then the total can only be symbolic.

all this debate is pointless, Paul was screwed up on ancient opium when he wrote this book, so it is OBVIOUS that it is all meant in the spiritual sense.
