i just told them where i work as a volunteer, that i am going to a workshop for those that have left a cult tomorrow.
they were all fascinated and wanted to know which cult i had belonged to.
i said jw's and this one guy said i he used to be one of them.
inactive or weak ones sometimes are the worst people to deal with, because the guilt level they have inside is so great, the are actually in some cases MORE annoying than JW's....
However, I don't think the argument that "The WTS has a hold still" is valid, because I think they have a hold on all of us....whether you believe that or not. We are posting here bitching about them....seems like they have a hold in even little ways still.
in your congregation, did you ever have macho-wannabes on the microphones, strutting up and down the aisles handling the mikes as though they were aka assault rifles?.
we had a few tossers like this.
in fact, i might even have been one of them.... jonty
It used to drive me nuts how they thought doing the mics was such a privelege....I hated when I was on the schedule. I was once removed mid-Watchtower because my suit jacket did not match my pants....i think it was tan pants / black jacket type thing. We also received a written instruction sheet on how to handle mics.....pretty bizarre actually.

OH MY GOD. The stupid borg, sitting up there in their IVORY TOWERS. Stupid people...tell them the troof!
staind - outside, the original version, i am currently stuck in a hotel room in northern paris
Dennis Wilson / Pacific Ocean Blues...
I encourage everyone and anyone to hunt down a copy of this.....amazing amazing emotionally charged music.....
reading through some of the recent posts, ie; the topic of lazarus and the gay issue, i was flabbergasted at what i was reading.
i can't believe-well maybe i can, that some people on this site are calling gay people "faggots", and telling that person that they are going to get "what sodom and gomorrah got".. this site has been a godsend to me, and have been telling my friends how nice it is to be in with a group of people who can relate to my life, my feelings, my insecurities, and my fears relating to the org.
and not being a part of it anymore.
I think the people who are prejudiced against gay people - whether on this site or not - have serious issues. I wouldn't classify the whole site as anti gay or anything like that....some of us are actually open minded....most of us actually.
went to see kill bill, vol.
2 this afternoon and it was fantastic!
i was highly disappointed in volume 1 but they had to do what they did in it to make this one.
ok, i know everyone is probably tired of the subject by now.
i haven't had internet access all week so i didn't get a chance to tell about my memorial experience.. not that it is exciting in the least bit.. i arrived 15 minutes early and sat in the middle of the meeting hall (actually a school cafeteria).
this was the first meeting i've been to with my former congregation in about five years now with the exception of a funeral that i basically snuck in and out of.. my whole point in going this year was to prove to myself i am no longer afraid of these people.
The dubs are so ridiculous...locked up in their ivory towers, the borg controls these people. Show them "the troof"! Haha.

does the fact that incense is used in religious ceremonies and in spiritism mean that all incense-burning is wrong?
not necessarily.
Point well made Sirona, I see what you mean....I go back and forth with stuff like this...sometimes it doesn't seem like a huge deal to me, and other times it annoys the hell out of me....I made the mistake of calling my parents this weekend, I didn't realize it was the memorial....oh brother. Needless to say I'm in an anti-JW frame of mind this week.

This article is 10 months old and the article seems to be pretty inoffensive compared to others that they've put out. In fact, persusing through the article, they take a pretty well rounded view...I"m not sure you read the article...hmmmm....
