alway got between 10 and 15 hours. I'd usually meet with the group, say I was meeting somebody for a bible study and then go to Borders. The last 14 months, my wife and I never even went out in service once. Still got our 10 to 15 hours though!

Did you cheat on your monthly report?
by JH ini was always honest with my field service reports, until the time when an elder came over to give me hell because i had only 1 hour that month in the field service.
i told him that i was working 50 hours a week, had a 4 day district convention that month and couldn't do miracles that month.
he never accepted my explanation.. .

Can Jehovah's Witnesses Now Celebrate Birthdays?
by UnDisfellowshipped incan jehovah's witnesses now celebrate birthdays without being disfellowshipped or disassociated?
will jehovah's witnesses who celebrate birthdays now only be considered as not being "mature" christians?

Bad Elder Stories

the absolute worst was some idiot named Rod Bartholomew while in the Hatboro, PA congregation (I think he's in the midwest somewhere now)...i was like 15 or 16 years old and this guy would just pick me apart any chance he got. One time he pulled my dad aside and told him that he had seen me in ripped jeans - I was working on my car! Although it doesn't seem like a big deal just writing it out....it was awful to be a teenager and to always be picked apart just because I wasn't an elders kid. On the other hand, my best friend at the time, Bill Morrison and his girlfriend Jen Smith were having sex and doing anything they could....everyone knew, but nothing happened. Oh yeah, Bill's dad was an elder. Coincidence?

I think Funchback may be able to attest to this...I was viewed as sort of wild, sort of a womanizer (until I met Michalina!)....If listening to Public Enemy and The Beastie Boys loud out in service and having silly relationships between ages 16 and 19 is wild, guilty as charged!

I saw a JW Elder at X-Men 2 Movie this weekend!!
by WingCommander ini nearly fell off my seat.
this 30ish jw elder came strolling in the movie theater with his wife and a huge tub of pop corn in his arm to watch x-men 2: xmen united.
i couldn't believe the hypocrasy.........they teach not to even watch much tv, much less go to a movie.

Reborn,
You didn't make me look like a fool...my opinion isn't the same as yours. I think your anger at JW's is making YOU a fool. You were once in the cult of JW, now you are in the cult of XJW's...not much of a difference as far as I can see. Think positive thoughts - you made the choice to be in the religion, now you made the choice to be out of the religion. This forum serves as a sort of comedic relief to my wife and I...everyone has to move on, don't you think?

Hey Reborn,
You are a little smug, much like a JW. Where I am from, suburban Philadelphia, no one ever mentioned X-Men from stage and no one cared if you went and saw it. Your outline was alot like many many talks I heard, maybe the people in the congregations just didn't care.
The original post in this thread is seeped in negativity and harbors resentment and revenge. pathetic. get a life!

I think you guys are pulling at strings here, nobody in the society has come out and said anything against either the first X-Men or its sequel. In fact, when I was an active JW I saw the first X-Men w/ my mom (a regular pioneer) and my dad (a ministerial servant). you guys need to get a life. your negativity and picking apart things is worse than the people in the cult!

Why do I have to move 3000 miles away to get away from this religion?
by DIAMOND inthat is the question.
i am literally moving from the east coast to the west coast just so i can lose my religion.
is that nuts?

I moved from PA to WA for alot of reasons, but also to stop going to meetings...never been happier. Love the west coast compared to the east coast.
