  Why cults hide their old publications.

  here is a classic example of why it is that cultic religions find it necessary to conceal their old publications from the scrutiny of the membership.

  this example is from 7th day adventism, but i assure all readers it is a classic and well worth the reading.

  still, it is necessary to lay out a little background to the speech i will be quoting from before proceeding.

  well, i went to my first sunday meeting after realizing the real "truth" about the wts today.. it is interesting sitting there with a liberated mind-set now.. at one point my wife turned to me and asked during the public talk, "whats so funny?".

  ", i asked her.. "because youre smiling.".

  smiling at the kh, a sure sign that your not a jw i guess.. ~.

  Funny, I was going through some of my mother in law's magazines today (she just moved out here from PA) and had to crack up at some of the titles - "what would you say to god", "is it safe to fly" and some other one about how churches are begging for money. total hypocrisy, very funny.

  i happened to have a conversation over aol im with an old friend of mine back in pa....she is the kind of girl who is going to college, watches r rated movies...basically puts herself first but is still very brainwashed.....i never really noticed this before but she kept talking about herself, even mentioned how much her (very small) condo is worth now....i found it very odd....i thought the paradise is right around the corner?

  I happened to have a conversation over AOL IM with an old friend of mine back in PA....she is the kind of girl who is going to college, watches R rated movies...basically puts herself first but is still very brainwashed.....I never really noticed this before but she kept talking about herself, even mentioned how much her (very small) Condo is worth now....I found it very odd....I thought the paradise is right around the corner??

  I love both of the Clintons. Bill Clinton makes more sense in 5 minutes than George Bush has in the last 2 1/2 years. Hillary is great too, I love her. I'm gonna vote for her.

  Dinner last night with our JW friends

  dave and i have a nice friendship with a jw couple from our teen years.

  all of us are now pushing 60 or in the 60's.

  the wife is an old friend of mine from childhood, the daughter of a very well known elder in our area who passed away a few years ago, and her husband is a man we all met in our late teens, when he was studying.

  This guys theory is way off. How can Neo have powers in Zion if he's outside of the Matrix? He can't. Zion is in the matrix, its a sub-program of the main program. Smith is sitting on the table next to him at the end. HE IS STILL IN THE MATRIX!! I haven't figured out if Neo is a machine or not though, but I can tell you that this synopsis is WAY OFF!

  Before You Actually Stopped Meetings, How Many HATED Being There?

  when i listen to anything at the meetings, it is with a critical eye.

  i really can't stand going, especially today.

  did you feel that the meetings were grating and extremely irritating, just before you stopped going altogether?

  I hated it with every ounce of my body. But I learned to have fun along the way. Using the mantra "submission is the best rebellion" I played along w/ their rules, but did it just sarcastically enough to get people wondering. I'd never set foot in the Hall of Emotional Abuse again though...maybe for my sisters wedding (she's only 16) or if something happened to my mom or dad.

  Inky got a letter from her son.............you have to read this

  our niece, irene, who posts here as inky, sent me an email.

  her 27 year old son is getting married in two weeks, and she posted a few days ago about how he didn't invite her to his wedding.. she told me i can post it as she doesn't want to read it again.. "dear mom.

  i've needed to write this letter to you for some time now.

  That was perhaps the most cruel letter I've ever read. Bruce Springsteen said (although Johnny Cash's version is better)

  "If a man turns his back on his family, he ain't no good"

  Its amazing how people who are considered "spiritual" are the most cocky, condescending know it alls you could ever meet. Its hard, but be the better person. Karma is a funny thing (if I believed in that sort of thing)

  Vote on Massive Attacks new album ...anyone?

  i think they've been brave and attempted something different than before.

  nice use of effects (the anorak coming out in me).

  i think there are some exellent songs on it but not consistent enough for a classic album but good music with good soul.

  Being that my wife and I are die hard Sinead fans, I absolutely love it. I'd give it an 8 out of 10, its probably my fav by them....I'm not too fond of their early ones (the critically acclaimed ones) which is odd, cause I love early Tricky.

  so far for album of the year 2003 is the white stripes "elephant".

  using vintage instaments and laying them down on an old 8 track give this album an old school flavor.

  with the energy of the buzzcocks with an instamental sound of vintage stones

  I've been wondering about that whirlwind heat album, it got some pretty bad reviews....especially at pitchforkmedia - an indie snob website.....i'll have to pick that up.....my favorite new album (until next week when Grandaddy, Fountains of Wayne, and Radiohead come out) is Jewel's new one. Amazing!
