  What really made you exit the Jw's

  i know its a question that has been asked a thousand times, but what really made you exit the jws .. for instance, my wife and i, having found out about the u.n., 607bce, failed prophecies etc.

  gave all this information to my wifes brother, along with many so called friends.

  we came out but the brother and friends stayed in.. the only reasoning i can put on it, is that we made an effort to find out for ourselves what was the real truth, the others were told and given written evidence - but still didnt make a decision.

  (Abridged version)

  After some experiences with the elder body, that left me really sensing, (knowing in a deep place), that in no way was there any holy spirit directing the steps of either the congregation, or the organization as a whole. Too much dishonesty and politicing. This eventually kept me from going to meetings, and only after several months of not attending, did I consider actually doing research on the organization. 607, in particular, was the real doctrinal clincher, as I already believed there was enough wrong with the organization, even without knowing of the UN/NGO issue, child abuse cases, etc, to prove it wasn't the truth.

  Directv High Speed Internet

  i am considering to get directv high speed internet.

  i do have high speed internet with another company, but directv has been offering me pretty good deals, so if you have directv high speed internet, i would like to hear from you and tell me how you like it, etc.....thank you!

  I don't have it, but keep in mind anything that communicates with a satellite will have a noticeable propagation delay, so real-time communication, such as VoIP or two-way video, is pretty much out of the question. Also absolute top (download), speeds, are only good to about 768k, at a maximun, and from what I understand, they are usually much slower. I have a friend at work who had it, before he could get DSL, and he claims the customer service was about the worst he ever experienced.

  i think when my time comes i may be there.

  a part of me says "sod 'em", but another part wants them to see how happy i am.. hmmm, not sure..

  I would not be present for such an announcement, if ever made, inasmuch as I have not attended, nor will ever attend a KH again.

  Raymond Franz is back in WTS ?

  from his point of view, an evidence is that he never published the 2nd part of isocf, even if it was announced in the first isocf.

  They have no control over my life, at this point. The answer would be no. Aside from perhaps loosing one good friend, (and yes, that would hurt), I would welcome officially being known as no longer a jw.

  Nobody is going to bite your head off and if somone does disagree with you (and there always is one) they are very polite about it here. I would be totally shocked if I ever posted a thread and everyone agreed with me. That's when it would get very boring.

  That's the beautiful thing with being out of the Borg, isn't it? We are actually ALLOWED to disagree, and it actually makes life INTERESTING...

  Remember congregation summer picnics? (and other ramblings)

  a thread on the last page made me remember something from my early childhood.

  remember congregation picnics and other outings?

  i remember when i was little, probably only 4 - 5 years old; there was a huge congregation picnic at a park with food, games, etc.

  No "congregation" picnics any more. It seemed like the congregation elders were sponsoring them and the did not want to be held responsible for any "judicial" incidents or injuries. An individual had to sponsor it. Some congregations said that only one or book study groups could get together.

  I remember when they changed this, Blondie. For a while they still announced them at the TMS anyway, they just called it the "Friends of Brother and Sister so and so" picnic. Sounds really stupid to me now.
