What was that word you called JWs.
Oh yes, I think it was liar.
Precisely.

Oh, and yes, if that biblical charcter Jesus witheld information, he was dishonest, too. Notice I didn't say he was WRONG. Just DISHONEST.
i for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

Witness don't have the proper understanding of "honesty".
Honesty is a good thing, but not always possible, or practical.
Witholding the truth IS dishonest.
Witnesses think it is OK to withhold the truth.
Witnesses ARE dishonest.

we will find out soon.
as a brief update my wife sweet pea and i have 'announced' to a few friends and close family - less than 10 altogether - that we are no longer going to meetings.
some friends have probed for details, others don't want to know.
It really depends on your congo. The elders in my last hall really had too many issues to deal with inside, to even bother with someone who said they wished to be left alone. I know of several in that hall who did just that, (myself included). None had to d/a or were d/f'd. OTOH, I had elders looking for me, from a previous hall that I belonged to, when they heard of my apostate ways....Like I said, it depends...

i remember last year, a lot of blame against the republican congress for doing nothing to stop big oil companies from raising prices.
democrats are in office now, and no one seems to be saying anything.
why are the democrats not being the night and shinning armor about gas prices?.
Y'know you are allowed to drive more efficient cars!
... that is what the rest of the world does anyway.
Even though, sense a bit of "stupid Americans", sentiment here, I can't disagree with Simon. The American public has largely done this to themselves, (or at least allowed the commercial auto giants, ((and not just Detroit, btw)), to do this to us. We really don't need cars that are getting <20 MPG. We just think we do. I'm no better at this than anyone else, although my next vehicle will almost certainly be a hybrid.
I don't neccesarily buy the "death of suburbia" argument, either though. Our energy problems ARE solveable. We need to get heads out of asses though, stop wasting time with "alternative sources", (at least as a total solution), and start looking into REAL, working, practical energy sources: i.e. nuclear. We made a fatal mistake in 1979 by ending our nuclear plant buildout. The rest of the world, (a good example is France), has accomplished quite a bit along these lines. We are still stuck in "China Syndrome" mode. We cannot afford to be.
Nuclear energy will make the electric cars, (not hybrids),finally practical. One of the major reasons for the conecptual abandonment of electric cars has to do with the fact, that most of our current energy sources in use now, (coal, hydroelectric, wind, solar, geothermal, tidal, and 20% nuclear), cannot meet the consumption needs of electric vehicles. A nuclear based infrastructure could easily meet the demand of electric vehicles, with almost infinate room for growth.

for company, i'll fix a tender, flaky crust and bake a creamy, cheesy quiche with either, bacon, canadian bacon or ham and top it with diced tomatoes w/green chilies and sour cream.. but just by myself, i lurv to fix hot buttered toast, topped with egg over easy and tomatoes w/green chilies...yummy!.
what's your fav?.
frannie.
Corned Beef hash and eggs over easy- favorite.
When I'm in the typical "Jersey" breakfast mood, some good Taylor ham and eggs always works.
Learned also to enjoy country fried steak and eggs during my midwest stint.

i started a new thread to discuss the knocking forum on pbs being locked this afternoon.
http://discussions.pbs.org/viewforum.pbs?f=203.
i saw some real understanding begin to develop about the plight of former jw's and the strict control placed over the independent thinking of active jw's by the watchtower society.
JW's and ex-JW's just have to be the most passionate people about their beliefs. I don't think PBS understands at all the can of worms they opened.
No, they don't. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

the recent thread on veterans made me think of this.
for me, i can now say i am proudly patriotic, hell, i even think being "proud" is a good thing.
these are things that would have seen reprehensible to me as a witness, and even a short while after i left.
Sorry, but why do you seem mad? You mentioned patriotism in your post, so that is why we are posting patriotic responses, you set the tone, and we followed.
Mad, me naw! Just trying to get some broader input...The first thing that came into my head was patriotism, so I posted as such. The WT has always taught that patriotism leads to nationalism. My take on this, is that is does not have to, so in that way I have come out of jw think. What are some other ways people have some to have a different understanding of things that the wts claimed to be taboo?

I certainly agree that nationalism is a bad thing. Quite obviously, I know we all know that no one is better than anyone due to county of birth or residence. That wasn't the point here, nor was this intended to be a political thread. I am simply stating examples of ways in which I am getting away from jw think, (after 1.5 years out). I also have very different views from my jw days on many things, such as sex, money, employment, almost everything. Let's turn this around, and come up with some non-political examples...

i first suffered from hayfever about 5 years ago and get it round about june.........................but i seem to have started already .
my eyes are so itchy and red................is it possible to have it start it now it seems too early its still only april.. i dont want to suffer this for months , its been bad enough when it lasts for only 4 weeks.
so do any of you here suffer and when does it usually start for you ?.
For me, like clockwork, two days after the first real warm spell in spring, I'm a freakin' mess, (this past Monday). I respond well to OTC Benedryl, except for the first day on it, (it makes me a bit drousy, then). After that I can maintian my allergy symptoms pretty well, with two pills in the morning, and two at night.
