  Are You Raising An Introvert?

  its not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.

  it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.

  this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

  My introverted nature was a big reason why the extroverted world of JW was very disagreeable to me on many levels, and I even said so as a JW..

  AUSTRALIA - All large JW Regional Conventions cancelled for 2015

  now we know why the governing body of jehovah's witnesses cancelled all the major regional conventions of jehovah's witnesses for 2015 and are only holding smaller conventions at the jw assembly halls.

  interestingly the first round of regional conventions are due this weekend in the jw assembly halls in sydney (new south wales), melbourne (victoria), and brisbane (queensland).

  Yes, I believe they are doing this here in NJ/NY area with the Stanley Theater, (at least I believe it did happen two years ago), Maybe someone from the area who currently still attends or better in the know than me could confirm. I think this is just coincidence with respect to the RC.

  No sane person is going to see this as "persecution". If they pull that card publicly, they will be shamed big time for it.

  i've been toying with the idea of just coming out and posting my name and location as an attempt to be available to locals that secretly browse the forum that have known me for up to 25 years.

  ( "reaching out", so to speak ).

  i'm not da'd or df'd, so this most certainly could end in a dramatic confrontation.

  I like your no nonsense approach, but once you go public on an ex-JW forum, you may as well DA. Google knows all.

  Its a lose-lose situation. You ultimately have to chose between your freedom, and your own innate desire to please others. That is the way it works once you have been a JW. Sure, there is always some compromise that can be reached, but you will never be just like anyone else who has never been one. There is always something you will have to hide from some JW, at some point, because the organization programs its members to reject anyone who no longer believes, even if only through one's own natural tendencies to succumb to cognitive dissonance. There is no such thing as leaving with dignity, if you are honest about it. That is exactly why I ripped the band-aid off 8 years ago, and DA'd. No way was I going to fake it, no matter how small.

  Make your decision wisely.

  my wife and i planned on fading but the elders now want a shepherding call and we are just done.

  i know that many play the game to try to stay in, but i'm not a game player and neither is my wife.

  our families already shun us because we reached out to a disfellowshipped family member.

  While I will state you are not necessarily "playing their game" if you DA, (so congrats!), however make sure this is what you want to do. It will put the exclamation point on your position, and you will have no chance of reaching loved ones still in. I speak from experience 8 years later.

  VIdiot - It certainly feels like a game-changer.

  What I will add, is what is very different about how the RC is going about this trial, (as opposed to the civil hearings such as the Conti case), is that the RC is really making an effort to understand both the psychology and sociology involved withing the organization, and its effects on its members, and nailing it. This is perhaps the first time that has taken place. If that trend continues, the domino effect can take place perhaps much faster than anyone expects. First Australia, then the UK, then Canada, (since all are Commonwealth nations). The US would certainly feel that pressure, so this could cause things to change quickly.

  It is difficult to time social evolution, but it happens for sure.
