  this is what you hear every time there's a part on the kingdom hall construction program.

  they're only possible because god's holy spirit blesses the work.

  otherwise, what is accomplished would be physically impossible.

  For anyone familiar with the 80/20 rule, it's more like a 95/5 rule on quick builds. Roughly 5 percent of the workers, do 95 percent of the work. I worked RBC for several years, and did 3 renovations without RBC. There was a small "core" of skilled brothers that actually knew what we were doing, and did most of the work. Many times, it was a matter of "re-doing" much of the work done by the unskilled help. This meant many late nights away from family, time off from work, etc. Holy spirit my a$$.

  after having been one of jehovah's witnesses either through being raised as one or getting the "truth" from the preaching work, some have reverted back to the organization as one of the "lost sheep".forgive us our trespasses .

  it is well documented what the watchtower has done regarding the issues of.

  I'm with Met on this. I can forgive on the basis that the organization, (meaning the individuals in it, not so much the collective organization), may have good intentions. But those "good" intentions, still don't change the fact, that they lied, misrepresented what little truth they did tell, continue to hurt families, and individuals, etc. No point in going back to that.

  If there was no religion

  i was thinking today, imagine if people had their faiths and opinions but no actual religion backing them up.. i believe that it would help stop cults e.t.c making money off people and controlling peoples lives and would help make the world a lot more peaceful.. i've yet to come across a religion that doesn't have problems or in some way is hypocritical.. what do you think?

  Only a society composed of truly mature people can be improved by the absence of organized religion. Until then the illusion and hope that it offers may still be needed.

  Interesting take. Even though I am an atheist now, I tend to agree with that statement. Slowly, I think we are getting there though, as it seems the worlds biggest problems today are caused by religion.

  i tried this because i'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie, but i am also a bit afraid if heights(or edges to be more precise)so i wanted to know if i could do it.

  Well, there are certainly things I'm going to DO, such as vote, give blood, and contribute to other charitible organizations.

  Aside from that, although I'm not the extreme sport type, I am giving much more time to pursuing hobbies, (presently, in the beginning stages of building an electric car, for example).

  I found the occasional cigar is no so bad, either.

  Illnesses in The Congregations

  did any of you ever notice that what seemed a larger percentage of people in the congregation seem to have serious illnesses than the same slice of people in the world with the same demographics?

  it seems that our congregation had a large percentage of people with mental illnesses, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc.

  these diseases (although some md's classify them as psychosomatic) have been known to be aggravated or even induced by stress.

  I wouldn't use the term "lesser". The org does seem to attact many who grew up in dysfunctional situations though.

  when, as one of jehovahs witnesses, we found householders unwilling to listen to us, we were at times frustrated.

  the comparison often made was to a burning house with people inside.

  we were trying our best to warn them of danger, but usually they would not listen, often scoffing at us.

  going from one religion to another

  as a former jehovah's witness have you been enticed to consider another religion perhaps, seeking to find "the truth" ?

  In answer to your question, once I knew Watchtower was full of lies I decided to research the BIble. I discovered the Bible is full of fables, that the gospels weren't written by those given credit for them, that nothing was written down about Jesus until around 40 years after his death (if he existed) and that there is no historical evidence for Jesus' existence

  Exactly what I found. Hard to accept, (even still), but reality.

  Are those claiming to be annointed, nutters?

  i remember at an assembly someone saying "oh yeh thats such and such, he's annointed...you can really tell" or something like that.. are those claiming, that they are annointed nutters?

  did their alphabet spaghetti spell it out for them?

  personally i think they are either very very confused, big headed or nutters

  A couple of the older ones I knew, honestly were no dfferent than anyone else. One of the ladies was very nice, and smart as well. The problem seems to be with the younger "anointed" if you ask me. My experience there always was ones who were eccentric, lazy, (wouldn't work), and even unfriendly. This seems to make sense, as the older ones who claimed to be of the anointed really only believed what every other Christian believed at the time -that they would go to heaven, no big deal. For any younger jw to claim this, after being indoctrinated, (learning of a paradise earth and what not), it would take a nutter to believe they were somehow of that class, and yet still believe jwism.
