The Borg ruined my marriage, then my ruined marrige got me out of the Borg!

has anyone else here left the borg and had it go over like a lead ballon, ruining their marriage?
mine is quickly heading that way.
i have been married for about a decade, and have a couple of kids - both in grade school.
The Borg ruined my marriage, then my ruined marrige got me out of the Borg!

i once heard about nearly an entire body of elders in a congregaton that got demoted/sacked from being elders because of some scandal in their congregation that they collectively covered up or didn't deal properly with.
i think it was about some relative of a dominant elder that should've got disfellowshipped but they all brushed it under the carpet.
the branch heard about it and sent a circuit overseer especially out to investigate it and he sacked nearly all of 'em and some new ministerial servant school graduates were quickly assigned to come in and take their place.
Angelacos wasn't the CO there was he??
You mean the big Greek guy? He removed three, (at least), on our BOE in the early '90s. The PO and two of his buddies.

what a load of crap- 10 min.
asking for more contributions in order to build more kh and reminded everyone not only to give cash but don't forget about leaving something for them in your will.. 25 min.
on the proper use of blood which is also a joke.. the km mentioned you cannot take the four components of blood individually in your body but every component was broken into smaller fractions which is up to you to make a decision to accept or reject.. the common jw does not know their left from their right in making decisions about the dozens of fractions of blood but they will obey blindly and not ask a question because that would be considered apostasy.. .

I remember when they first came out with this nonsense, my immediate thought was WTF? I know I had no idea on how to proceede given the opportunity to make those decisons. I never did get the proxy form completed.

man, this is going to suck.
i really don't see why a company of less than 50 employees needs a big fvvving system to handle the way everything flows.
i could fix it all by eliminating one employee who buggers everything up within the company.. i know the wts uses an erp system, but they have more than 20 people working for them.. what are your experiences with erp?.
What you'll find is that it is almost impossible to get a company of such small size to actually "work" with the system. Everyone will complain how the system dosen't work the way the flow of business does and eventually will abandon the system. I experienced this in both small and mid-sized companies with both ERP and CRM type systems. ERP systems really only begin to prove to be efficient in larger/more complex organizations.

as ex-mormon, my exposure to a different version of the first vision story which was quite different from the offical first vision was my beginning way out of mormonism.
what about you ex-jw's?
what, in terms of wt doctrine, made you realize that the wt is a fraud?.
For many years there were things that I questioned or flatly disagreed with. However, I tolerated them, as many here have probably had a similar experience with. I stopped attending after I began to sense that poor personal decision making was largely a result of WTS indoctrination. At that time, there was no "doctrine" per se, that I had any issue with, other than the inconsistencies I had always had some concerns about. A funny thing happed though. I began to notice just how much more clearly I was able to think, as well as how much life improved without the organization's influence in my life.
At that point I needed to know. Because, really, at that time I still considered the jws the "truth". I was ready at that time to take an objective look into the organization that for almost 20 years I dedicated myself to. I read Crisis of Conscience, and I sensed the honesty and humilty of the author Ray Franz. I was able to communicate with him via email, and that further legitimized my opinon of him. The 607 issue, as well as the Mexico/Malawi debacle were perhaps, the two most convincing doctrinal/politcal issues that did me in as far as the WTS was concerned. No looking back since.

were you "fortunate" enough to be part of the "in crowd" or were you a spectator??
?
Funny, my "worldly" friends now could care less about such things and yet all the while I was "in" I thought just the opposite. it's amazing what you see once the blinders come off.
How true that statement is!
j
were you "fortunate" enough to be part of the "in crowd" or were you a spectator??
?
Nope. Not in any cong I attended. Very thankful for that now.

in all my years as a jw, my understanding had been of wtbts belief, was that the 144 000 were resurrected in a 'twinkling of an eye' and never actually experienced death.. did i understand wrongly or has the watchtower changed its mind......again?.
january 1st watchtower, page 27 .
when does the first resurrection occur?
It seems that resurrected ones of the 24 elders group may be involved in communicating of divine truths today. This may be the most significant sentence in the article (haven't read it in its entirety yet). I don't recall seeing anything like it in print before.
Seems to be laying the groundwork for a "flash of new light", to be exposed probably whenever the last of the 3 old-timers hanging on (Barr, Barber, Jaracz) drop off:
I suspect the "new light" will be this: Governing body members could be members of the "great crowd" rather than "anointed". If the "faithful & discreet slave" can communicate from beyond the dead, you don't really need any living on the earth, do you?
Intresting stuff, Sir82. I've been wondering myself what jws are thinking of the influx of younger anointed into the GB. Unfortunately, as OnTheWayOut said, nobody on the inside will notice. Especially if it's handled in the above manner.

i just got it for reading during upcoming travels.
any comments?
(i'm sure that this is not the first thread on this topic)
Excellent read. I highly recommend it. Dawkins creates simple, yet convincing arguments. Almost good enough to sway my agnostism towards atheism.

i was feeling a bit guilty about celebrating as this is my 1st year out and i know the history of all the holidays and birthdays are pagan or bloody or idolatrous.. .
but i was thinking that it's not what someone made them in the past but what they are right now.. to us, at this moment.
am i going to sit down on thanksgiving.. and say, "i hate those indians, think i'll go kill some"..????
None whatsoever! This is my first, and I am looking forward to it!
