How many of you still have friends in the org?
by Nellie ina good friend of mine moved away 10 years ago.
needless to say, we lost touch over the years, but our family always spoke of them warmly and with with great affection.. last week, their daughter looked my son up on my-space and we reconnected.
they've left the organization, basically got fed up with the hypocrasy of the membership.

How Jehovah's Witnesses are told to treat disfellowshipped Relatives.
by jwfacts inin another thread it was mentioned the witnesses do not shun disfellowshipped relatives, so i thought i would copy a few articles that show the watchtower says quite definitely that they are to almost totally shun relatives, along with some examples that i know personally.
i personally know many that have not been contacted by their parents for years;my cousin was my best friend, and for a year before my disfellowshipping week after week i spent hours with her and her child, who spent 4 months of his first year in hospital.
on the day of my disfellowshipping i was informed that i am no longer welcome there, and i have not seen my second cousin for 6 months now.

One experience i have had with my disfellowshipped uncle was a couple of years ago. It was my nana and grandas 40th wedding anniverary party, there were lots of people there, no others from the congregation though just family, it was my aunty who organized it all and my grandparents never new anything about it. My dad sat down had a drink with him for 10 mins i think and that was about it.
A week later somehow someone in the congregation who has a disfellowshipped brother went to the elders and grassed my dad and granda up (both elders). An elders meeting was arranged and both were counciled, i feel unfairly as neither new he would be there, they were told they should have walked out.
Neither my dad or granda seen him regularly anyway but both are very wary now about what they do, he wasn't invited to my auntys wedding incase of further stumbling. I havn't seen him for ages but i still see his kids (my cousins regularly), hes spoke to on the phone by my nana and granda and is spoke to briefly when he drops the kids off. My dad always goes to see him when its his anniversary.
Its a shame because hes such a nice man, it was sad seeing him cry when he found out about the wedding he had missed.

Just returned from the 2006 (Armageddon's here) "Deliverance At Hand" DO
by apocalypse inhow much can one person gag?
it is interesting to note that clive thomas (canadian branch office) spoke during his part in such a way as to betray the fact that he was personally aware that what he was saying was false.. it's one thing when a local onion gets exuberant about parroting the gb's nonsense.
it's quite another when a bloodsucker like clive comes from the branch and does a "bait 'n switch" the way he did.

Would it be possible to get this confirmed, by others, that this was actually contained in a resolution.
I can confirim that something along those lines was mentioned in the resolution. My DC was last week and i remember thinking what a weird resolution, i didn't say AYE, if i had i would be quakeing in my boots at the very thought of me being on here

Name the good things that Jw's have or believe....
by AK - Jeff inwe always seem to get focused on the bad - and there is plenty of it for sure - and anyone who follows my posts knows i am no wt apologist by any stretch.
but focusing on the postive is a good thing in the 'moving on' process i think too.
what do you think jw's had right?.

Please Help Me Help My Mom To See The Stupidity Of The Blood Doctrine
by minimus inshe constantly parrots acts 15:29 to "abstain from blood".
she showed me the latest awake that says something about how's there's a rare disease from taking blood transfusions that "hundreds" have gotten.
i told her "hundreds in billions is nothing".

Your point being?
I was only stating my only experience with regards the blood situation, do you have a problem with that? She said that you might as well say goodbye if they don't have a blood transfusion.
It says refrain from blood so as far as i am concernd you do that.
Your recitation of one fortunate example does not in any imply that that will be the outcome in every case.
Obviously that isn't the outcome in every case or no one would be dieing. People are so quick to pick faults.

slip of the tongue of elder
by DannyBloem in.
this morning the speaker was late and they had to change the wachtower study with the public talk.. the young elder introducing this, was maybe a bit nervous of this happening (although it is certainly not the first time this year), and told that the public intercourse of the wachttower study would be held first, instead of the public discourse.

I think i was 1 of the only 1s in the hall who found this funny but on thursday the speaker said jesus came about 100 times in his 15 minute talk, he was asking questions what makes jesus come, what satisfaction will we get from the coming of jesus, something along those lines.
I noticed when he got down his wife whispered in his ear and she started laughing and he went a bit red in the face.
I've heard beasts said as breasts, throngs as thongs and organism and orgasm,.

If in the future she needs blood, well then I guess it's time for goodbyes, but remember it's her decision.
My granda was told that without having blood it was almost certain he would die, they did everything they could to get him to take the blood but he wouldn't budge, this was a very serious operation and he came through it unscathed and is still with us 5 years later and has had no problems since.

If Noah had built the ark, but hadn't preached, he wouldn't have been saved
by Bonnie_Clyde inthat was just one of the wise comments i heard at today's wt study.
i'd like to see the proof.. also, "no one was saved by hanging onto the outside of the ark.
they had to be deep inside.

The ransom of jesus was commented on quite a few times today at our hall.

Great Educational Tool for those studying or thinking of studying with JWS
by sf ini was doing some web surfing and catching up on my reading and came upon a post i hope may help some lurkers and seekers understand better what they are getting themselves into or may have already gotten into, by studying the bible with jws.. i surely hope it is not going against any rule to copy/paste this.
i will not include anything but the text.
i will say though that it is from a longstanding exjw support board that can be found here:.

There have been/are numerous people here who are being shunned by their families so the WTS must have a shunning policy.
The WTS does not have a shunning policy for families, i know a few who still live with their family, i suppose it all depends on how serious the family views what the disfellowshipped 1 has done, if the person is dfed for being an apostate than they would probably shun them completely.

Back from Germany...
by Toronto_Guy inon thursday i got back from germany, after having spent a week...was only planning to attend 2 world cup games, but ended up getting to 5 (bought some tickets outside the stadiums!
)...its a very cool country, lots of history, travelled to hamburg, frankfurt, cologne, nuremburg, berlin and leipzig...of course the atmosphere is amazing right now with the world cup, fans from all over the world.... the only drawback was passing a kingdom hall in hamburg...something like "jehovah zugen"...lol...but i bought a big canadian flag and wore it around, even though canada is not in the world cup!
it was nice to be able to do that, something i could never have done before as a jw...also got a bit drunk one night, that was fun too...its not always easy to have lost family, but its amazing to have the freedom to do things i never could before.... nice to be back and reading everyone's posts again..
