introduction
by darkwanderer inhi, i'm new....and i am searching for a place to call home..... i was raised in a strict catholic family....sexually abused by a jesuit priest....left the church....married....was baptized a witness in 1975...regular pioneered for about 5 and a half years (1988 to 1994)...quit that...diagnosed depressed....have slowly drifted away....and now...with the news of what is happening within the organization and offenders and pedophiles....i find that i can't stay in the organization....i can't be a part of something that so closely resembles the catholic church and all their deceptiveness.... i have no "home"...... thanks for listening....

Hi People!
I received my latest WT mag yesterday and on the white wrapper was printed in red letters:Only 5 issues remaining. Subscription service will be discontinued. Obtain your personal copy through a congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
I wonder if this means I can still get a sub. as long as I go through the cong. or if I have to pick up each and every mag at the KH.
I've been DF'd 2 years but like getting the mags so I can keep up with their current brain-washing propaganda. Besides, I never pay for them so it affects their pocketbook.
Any thoughts on what this newest tactic is about?

I also recently ran across a meaningful song:
Religious Vomit - Dead Kennedys, 1981
All religions make me wanna throw up
All religions make me sick
All religions make me wanna throw up
All religions suckThey all claim that they have the truth
They'll set you free
Just give'em money and they'll set you free
Free for a feeThey claim that they have "the Answer"
When they don't even know the Question
They're just a bunch of liars
They just want your money
They just want your consciousnessChorus:
All religions suck
All religions make me wanna throw up
All religions suck
All religions make me wanna BLEAHThey really make me sick
They really make me sick
They really make me sick
They really make me sick
They really make me sick
They really make me ILL.PUNK ROCK RULES!!!

Hey,
I can understand why you would like to be able to fully explain your position. That would be so cool! But for me, I've had to realize that I'm not perfect and sometimes the only way I can set a firm boundary is to simply say, "I don't want anything to do with you. Leave me alone." Of course she's gonna try and talk you into staying! All JW's are trained to do so.Just remember that you are under NO OBLIGATION to explain anything to her. It's not like other relationships with, say, a spouse, where the person DESERVES an explanation. I'm sure she told you that "any time you want to stop the study, you can." If she starts trying to bully you or emotionally blackmail you (this one more likely), tell her to leave immediately. And if she implies, "well, I guess you don't love Jehovah or appreciate what he's given you," tell her to f**k off!
Oops, sorry. Don't mean to be bossy. The sad truth is that this woman probably doesn't really care anything about YOU. You are just a notch in her belt, plus easy time to count as service hours.Be Brave and Firm!

Why I, You, We keep coming back here
by Bridgette ini always say i do not believe in demons, but i find that perhaps i do.
not the kind that haunt and lay in wait for bad little, straying jw's to make a false move with a ouji board, or a misthought purchase at a garage sale, but the kind that haunt a childhood, that steal souls--the scarist kind--the human kind.
i was inspired by farkel's post this morning (btw, farkel's posts are never boring) to write this, and try, once again to exorcise these demons.

Bridgette,
I loved your post. I've been df'd 2 years and still come to this board, and I'm always judging myself: "Why am I holding on to this resentment?" My only answer? The organization mindfu**ed me, and that is abuse. I feel like I've been spiritually raped. I/We have a right to be angry and to continue to warn/help other people.I recently got honest with myself and admitted that I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. I dismissed my father's behavior for over 20 years because it wasn't actually "penetration." But abuse is abuse. Dishonesty and rationalization only hurts ME. The society also abused me, and that is the TRUTH.
Love You,

We thank you Jehovah
by ballistic inwhen the new song book "sing praises to jehovah" was introduced from the great publishing company in 1984, it was clearly and frankly admitted (suprisingly) that some of the old songs had to be dropped due to the fact they were copied from other religions and some even infringed copyright in this regard.
however, from an early age "we thank you jehovah" had always reminded me of "god save the queen" and this song was not dropped and continues to be regularly used down to this day.. i realise in later life that the two songs are indeed similar in a musical sense.
you can almost play one song on top of the other in places and the starting chord structure is identical.. also, the two songs both seem to have a certain feeling of reverence which i am not sure is conjured up by the timing and the harmony alone or by the meaning the songs have in terms of their lyrics and use.. it turns out the british tune has been used many times over by different people and even by other countries, as european visitors to britain in the eighteenth century noticed the advantage of a country possessing such a recognised musical symbol - including germany, russia, switzerland and america (where use of the tune continued after independence).

Why say Jehovah anymore?
by Bang inthe wtbts uses the word 'jehovah' to lord it over people.
it's great that they picked on a made up name - it's a gift horse in the mouth for you to be so at liberty to drop it.
(i love sayings, you know, a gift , horse / pride, and from their own mouth?)..

I bet if everyone started using the name Jehovah, the dubs would be PISSED! They would probably start teaching that people who aren't dubs can't use Jehovah's name.
Andy, Jehovah answered me with a feeling. I felt safe being away from the hall. That place is fucked up! You know, "Get out of her, my people!" The WTBTS, to me, is "the disgusting thing standing in the holy place."
Bang, try reading "Young Goodman Brown," by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It's so cool!

Bang,
Are you the source of a spiritual awakening for me? I open my heart. I feel my feelings. I see my fears. I wait for a manifestation of his love: warmth, peace, a mosquito bite, a short story.Yet, it's hard conveying this to my kids. When I pray with them, we use words. Short, simple prayers.
Read any Hawthorne? It's all about the symbols, man.
