june 20th marked a new beginning for me and yourschelbie.. we had a justice-of-the-peace wedding, with just a few family and friends on hand.
the judge did a marvelous job of capturing the essence of the meaning of marriage in just a few minutes.
(and we weren't reminded that serving a publishing company should be the #1 priority in life, lol.).

i want to thank all of you for your advice, well wishes, support, love, private messages, late night phone calls, etc.
i didn't mean to alarm any of you.
when i wrote my post, i felt i was asking a valid question.
Hi Robyn,
I am so sorry that I didnt get a chance to respond to your other thread. I am very glad that things are looking up for one of the sweetest posters on the board.
Best wishes to you,
Dino
i saw a man at the docs yesterday....typical central ohio redneck.
very skinny, long, scraggly hair (see pics below) and an overall *greasy* appearance, wearing too tight jeans.
he was at the doc with his very overweight wife and mother, whose hair style he copies.
It is a good thing Oded Fehr wears his hair long (in most roles).
His ears stick out like two open car doors!

after reading cruzenheart's post on the letter about her father, and the treatment he received from the co, william osbeck, and the elders of his congregation, it brought back my own memories of this particular co and his treatment of people.
it was 1995 and one of the hardest years of my life.
in february of that year, i learned i was pregnant with our fifth child.
Thanks for sharing Sadie.
Osbeck is nothing but a glib salesman in front of the congregation and an unfeeling corporate man in more private settings.
I detested him and he knew it! [:D]

been reading some boe letters that mention "special blue envelopes" evidently used for judicial correspondence between the society and the congregations.. frankly, i had never even heard of them before.. any former elders out there want to describe them for me?
(yeah i know they are "special" and they are "blue" .
more importantly, are there any former bethelites that can describe the process or treatment of these at hq?.
And btw, the same goes for the green envelopes as well (Springhill).

A person can go down to their local "convenience" paper store for printers and request some samples of some #10 Springhill blue envelopes.
They will give you 5 to 7 envelopes for free.
They are a perfect match to what the Society uses.

when i was but a wee lad, re-instated persons were regarded with great suspicion pretty well for ever after.
i recall a lady i knew becoming engaged to someone who had been re-instated, my parents actually commiserated with her parents over this sad state of affairs.. back then, re-instated persons were barred from almost everything.
just student talks were allowed, but no praying and no ministerial privileges whatsoever.. then in the early 70's, the wt stated that it might be possible for re-instated persons to be given a ministerial position after a proving period of at least 10 years impeccable behaviour.
Hello again Hillary.
I will email you soon.
Take care,
Dino

HS,
Let's catch up some time my friend.
The best to you and yours,

This came up because a brother that had been DF'ed was a ball "o" fire and it was decided by the local body that we would recommend him. He had been off restrictions 2 years and 9 months. When the CO came he stated the 3 year thing (in '98) but said we could send it in to the society (with the CO's agreement). A glowing recommendation went off and guess what, no dice!
A similar case arose in '99 and the society said explicitly, dont recommend him the next COs visit or the time after that! Once again the three year thingy. I quit in '99 myself, things always change.
As far as I know they dont do any records search on a recommendation by a local body and after three it is a non-issue in most cases. Once again they rely on the local body, (along with the CO's agreement) to do their homework in these cases.

When I served, I had heard many different computations from many elders and others. So I specifically asked a CO what time period does the society require to pass before a man can be used again. His reply, "The society will consider a brother to serve again when a period of three years has passed after restrictions had been lifted."
Since a brother is on restrictions after being reinstated, (usually for some time), you can begin to see the time period involved.
