  I hope that you keep pressing RR. He hates it when one-liners dont shrug off the difficult questions he has to answer, all the while attacking the ridiculous JW dogma and proceeding Rutherford era which came from the Russellite wellspring.

  You've stepped in another pile of sh!t RR with the bible students. If you were a nice and non judgmental person (Im only saying that because of your recent sickening post on adultery), maybe I might be drawn to your next cult, but you have consistently proved otherwise.

  Why cant you answer minimus' viewpoints head on, especially when he met your demands? Since you view us as proselytes, why not come up with more than what you would consider a snappy comeback.

  Las Vegas!

  while i was traveling this past month, (25000 miles in five weeks), i flew to las vegas and spent the first week of july there with my favorite, and now only girlfriend.

  what a great place!

  we stayed at the luxor and hit every casino on the strip, saw shows, toured the hoover dam, rode all the rides, went clubbing every night until at least three am, and slept about ten hours in five days!

  I was worse than a blind dog in a meat house in Vegas.

  Last time I went I won a few thou at the Bellagio, and a few Franklins at Rio and Excalibur.

  almost unbelievably after 4 years of staying away from the hall and the jws last week they called and said there were allegations of apostasy against us.

  we have been very quiet about our feelings and so were very surprised and angered.

  we were told that they were going to discuss the allegation and determine if we would be formally accused of apostasy.

  Is The Watchtower Organization Thought Of As An American Religion?

  while we all know that the jehovah's witnesses are found throughout the world, someone once told me that in other countries the governing body does not carry the weight that they do in the united states.. do you living in germany, france, uk, australia, etc.

  feel that was the case?

  to me, it seemed that such persons as the australians were such a 'gutsy' independent, wild west sort of culture that would question authority more so than say a u.s. witness.. is this primarily thought of as an american religion by others?.

  Governing Body Stories

  i was wondering if anybody here has any stories about members of the governing body?

  has anyone here personally met one of them?.

  Oh how I used to revere those crotchety old farts.

  Where do I begin? In the early 60's at the international convention in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena my parents took us kids to meet the "bigwigs". I remember Knorr talking with them while Fred Franz was kneeling to talk to us.

  As a young kid in the 60's, Milton Henschel let me touch his nose after I said it looked funny (I didnt know at the time that it was a souvenir from a trip to Liberia!).

  On another occasion my mother introduced me to Leo Greenlees and boy am I glad she didnt leave my side!

  Others I have met--John Groh, Karl Klein (marshmallow mouth), John Booth, Carey Barber, Albert Schroeder, John Barr, George Gangas (terrible speaker, almost as bad as Klein) and Grant Suiter.

  Other recollections:

  Lloyd Barry seemed very kind. My sister and I and met him at a WT annual meeting in the early 90's. He asked where I was from and when I told him (Texas), in his best Australian drawl, he wanted to know EXACTLY what the spiritual condition of the brothers was like down there.

  Dan Sydlik, school yard bully.

  IMHO Lyman Swingle seemed the most like a regular guy. My sister and her husband said that he drove like a bat out of hell and could cuss worse than a New York cabbie (she was horrified but my brother-in-law howled with laughter!) Read the Wall Street Journal everyday. Lyman also loved children, he was very kind to mine.

  Ted Jaracz seemed the coldest of them all. After shaking his hand I wanted to go wash it even though I didnt know why at the time.

  In retrospect, my collective feelings about the whole bunch is that I always came away with a sense of not measuring up spiritually.
