Should I warn this householder of the danger?
by SirNose586 ini was out today and working with a well-indoctrinated brother ("brother b").
we were hitting houses with tracts then running, until we went on his call.
brother b was trying to give him an asleep and a tract, and invite him to the talk today, which was given by a bethelite (and it was a heavy indoctrination session, which is another story).

Why do you choose to live the way of a double agent.
And add "why don't you just quit" or words to that effect.
Some people really just do not get it do they? It takes some (like me) years to ween themselves off the tit of the Borg, and make a life outside of the "Hall." It is very hard to just say "I quit" when that entails losing all your friends and family. So many if they are trapped, do what they can't to throw a "Sabot" into the works...just to maintain a little sanity.
SirNose...we may not see eye to eye on a lot of issues, but I KNOW just how you feel on this one.

The Memorial...
by Justice-One indoes anyone still go to the memorial?
i was just thinking that although i made it quite clear to my wife that i was not going to go to anymore meetings or conventions (i made a comment about not wanting to be there when the kool-aid came out) that i caught myself thinking the other day that i might go to the memorial just to keep her happy.
but then i thought why?

But then I thought why? It would be like me saying that I still think they have the truth, but that its just not for me. And I would so love to help those Memorial attendance numbers to continue to go down.
Any thoughts on this?

Can anyone give the outline on the standard JC? You know, how they do it from start to finish? There must be a standard format to follow I would think. After all, the society will barely let you go to the bathroom without making sure its done in a highly efficient (supposedly) JW approved manor.

Has anyone gotten a restraining order on elders??
by mzliz inhere's the story,.
been "inactive" for 2.5 years.from that day forward my elder brother, sister and parents have treated me as an apostate, seeing how i told them i didn't believe in their bible or god.
i have been exluded from everything but since getting pregnant, my parents now want to be part of the babies life (just to "save" the child i'm sure, but thats what monitors are for).

No life threatening is necessary; diminishing life's quality is.
I wish I would have had your Judge. I was being stalked, and even had a witness that swore that she had seen this person peeking in my windows after dark. Of course this law student who gets to grade his own papers (aka Judge) said I should just ignore her and get better blinds.
And by the way, there is a LOT of truth to the old saying that the a lawyer that represents himself has a fool for a client.

Don't get me wrong. I think Restraining orders (like gun control) are a waste of time. But the Elders would at least be breaking the law, which could be used against them. But I fear, that since the Elders probably are not threating your life, an RO would be next to impossible to get. I know, been there, done that. (Though not with the cult leaders.)

Also, who will enforce them, the police, who will do it only if there are not serious crimes taking place.
Violating a restraining order IS a crime.

Who else would never accept to go to a Judicial Committee?
by JH ini was never df'd.
if ever the elders asked me to attend a judicial committee for some reason, i would refuse.
i would never accept to go to their kangaroo court.

They are no masters over me. Besides, by JWs, if you don't go to meetings and word is out you're not a good Christian, they "disfellowship" you on their own. They assume that evn if you're not announced, you're still "wicked" in God's eyes.
Man you got that right. For a long time before I quit going altogether, only ONE person would talk to me at the Hall....and he was an Elder. And I got the distinct impression that he was on a "fishing expedition."
I remember one time when one of my sons friends came up to me and started asking me questions about hunting and camping, and the time I spend in the mountains. I was just standing there having a nice conversation with him, when another "brother" rushes up, interupts me, and starts talking to this kid. (And when I say kid, I mean about 17 or so.) He also gives me one of the coldest looks I had ever received. Then without letting me get a word in, he tells this kid that he needs to see him outside. The kid never talked to me again.

Nope. No way, no how would I ever submit to a Kangaroo Court lead by a bunch of gas pumpers. BTW, what happens if they ask you to come in, and you ask them if they have two witnesses? Because if not, you do not see the need to waste your time, because you are not going to admit to anything. (Admit nothing, deny everything, demand proof.)
