Jonathan, your thesis was a briliant piece of critical thinking. Which will be totally lost on these "gas pumpers." The JW's do NOT believe that critical thinking is a good thing. You are to be a good little sheep and do what your told, or ELSE. I think at this point, that most of flock in general no longer believe this is the truth. But as my Mom said once "where else would I go? All my friends are here." And as for the Elders...they are doing a good job cracking that whip like a good Overseer would have done. Think about it...the slave owners did not want their slaves to know how to read and write. And the Society does not want the brothers on the Internet...same thing. Free your mind, and your ass will follow. They know this. But they also know that if you grab man by his privates, it is much easier to control his heart and mind.

Another Good Question...
by Justice-One ini just pissed off the wife again.
i asked her that since the governing body admit they are not inspired, why is it considered wrong to question their dictates?.
as usual, she got mad and told me to keep those thoughts to myself.

Actually this reminds me of the answer I put down on a recent Algebra exam. My mind had just about turned to jelly at this time, and it was one of those if X = Y, and A = B, it is true that D = A, WHY? or something like that. I just wrote down I can only assume you are looking for something other than "because", but that is all your going to get on this one. (And then of course I added a little smilely face.)
But that is basically what you get when you ask questions about the Society. The answer to your question is "because" this is the way we do it. God told us to do it this way....but remember, we are just spirit directed, not inspired, so we might not have heard him right.

At least she did not take you before the elders
Oh I have given her a lot better reason that this. Among other things, I have told her the Elders could kiss my shinny pink ass, and that they were Overseers alright...but just in the south slave holders kinda way. I also have made mention of "Kool-Aid" quite a bit.

After listening to the tape I will admit that you didn't sound very sincere to me. You sounded as if you were too prepared and too callous to be helped.
Those that have seen through "the truth" would be hard pressed to sound any other way. And I would imagine that it is very hard to have any type of genuine conversation with three "Gas-Pumpers."

Oh I would have had a lot of fun with the question "Do you believe what the FDS says?" I would have asked, "well, are they inspired or not?" Because if they are not inspired by God, maybe we should ALL be questioning what they say.

A Moment Of Reflection?....
by Justice-One init has now been almost three months since i completely cut off my association with "the brothers," and told my wife that i did not want to be there when the "kool-aid" came out.
(remember i had been in full fade mode for over ten years.
) at first i got the cold shoulder from the wife for about a month, then things slowly returned to normal.

(Remember I had been in full fade mode for over ten years.) At first I got the cold shoulder from the wife for about a month, then things slowly returned to normal. Then about two weeks ago, during a quiet moment, the wife asks...."are you happy?" I responded with, "of course I'm happy. I have never been happier in my life." She didn't say anything more, and neither did I. But I have been wondering what she might have been thinking at that moment. Could it have been...."I wonder if I could be happy without "the truth?" ....or "how can he be happy when he is now going to die at Armeggedon?" I wonder.

I guess the all time "best" service moment I ever had, was the day that a girl came to the door that I knew from school. And I had just the day before called her a bitch to her face. (And yes, she really deserved it.) I guess you can say, there was not much to say at the door....so I just turned around and left. (After opening and closing my mouth at least three times.)

I want to, but it's much easier to be a sole agent.
I know exactly what you mean. After I left "the truth" I came to realize that I never really had any true friends. They were all cardboard cut-outs of friends. It has been said that if you can have just ONE really good friend in life, that you are very lucky. So, I guess I landed on my feet here. I was lucky enough to make a true friend that was there to support me in my decision to leave the cult. I trust this person implicitly, and he me. I feel that is the true brother that I never had. He is also on the very short list of people I will allow to stand behind me with a loaded rifle...and in my book, this says a lot.
You know, this reminds me of the old joke....a good friend will bail you out of jail. Your best friend will be sitting beside you saying "Damm, we F'ed up."
