  for the members of the "gun culture" among us.

  last week i finally received my new lrb arms m14sa.

  it is a "trw" build, with a new wilson chrome lined barrel, and a smith enterprises uscg muzzle brake.

  I have shot against quite a few recent military and LEO folks and wonder how they lived so long.

  ManOman you got that right! For the most part our rank and file military and police cannot shoot worth shit. In the past, I have outshot a swat team with my M14 using IRON SIGHTS. We were both shooting at a man sized target at 550 meters. With the rifle and scope combo they had, they should have been hitting it EVERY time. So when I hit it 7 out of ten times, (from position) it kind of embarrased them.

  Did you really avoid eating food with possible blood in it?

  when i joined in the mid 80's, many jw's really read the label to make sure there were no blood by products in the food.. then a few years later, they didn't make a fuss about that anymore.. i guess that today, jw's eat just about anything..

  i just read the topic "i thought i was alone" by newbie elinor.

  i found it interesting how he mentioned that he wanted to throw the daniel book "across the room" after reading some of the many misapplied prophecies concocted by the overlord's in brooklyn.

  when i was a jw i also fantasized at times of throwing the book across the room, but for me it was the revelation book over ten years ago.

  JWs in Field Service Today--Christmas.

  i guess the local kh is doing a special field service outing today, which my wife will be a part of...on christmas morning.

  i think this is intrusive and disrespectful.. did any of you do fs on christmas?.

  is this a common thing among jws?

  Dec KM indicates extreme paranoia over booking hotels NOT on the list

  over the years, the society has included half a page in their annual guidelines when planning for and attending the district convention.. in particular, they have been very insistent that only hotels on the recommended lodging list be used.. .

  the language in this month's km is even more insistent than last years.. .

  Be careful. They will most likely tell you (with a straight face) that although the GB is not inspired...they are spirit directed.

  I went round and round about this wife my wife. I told her that words do mean things, and the definition of inspired, is spirit directed. She just told me to keep those "apostate" things to myself.

  i have done my share of sleeping at conventions with the elbow in the side, same ol same ol.

  you would know which scripture was coming before they ever said it.

  All have their place...after all the .223 is a product of non-trench tactical thinking. One hardly ever makes a 300 meter shot unless he's a sniper anymore

  You make good points. But (there is always a but) in Somalia the bad guys were getting hit two or three times with a "16" and in many cases either getting back up to run away, (no doubt to die, but they are still a threat until they do) or staying in the fight. Whereas with the M14 (or 7.62 X 51) round, they were getting shot, and staying shot. They went down, and did NOT get back up. (Almost 2500 foot pounds of energy tends to just well and truely ruin your whole day.)
