i started the year out with him being in the hospital with a gi bleed and heart attack.
looks like we're ending it the same way.

Last year I dealt with hubby's cancer....it was a very trying time to say the least. So sorry you are having to deal with you daughter's bad behavior at the same time. Wish I lived closer and could give you a big hug. Best wishes on a better new year.

We are so far from being innocent that we owe our very existence to sin. If, for example, we traced our family tree far enough, we would probably each find an ancestor born as a result of sin - rape, unlawful incest, a despised pregnancy, sex before marriage, and the like. Humanity can boast only one perfect Person. We killed him.
True...very true....but is it our fault??!!! Should we suffer for the sins of our father?? We have failed because our parents were sinful? Makes no sense. Jesus was born of Mary....Mary's ancestors were not sinners?

Whether there's a God or not, it's plain to see who's fault suffering is, it's our's.

It's our fault we suffer??? It's our fault we were born into "sin"? We are left alone to our own devices and then we are blamed because we fail? We are doomed from the outset. In fact if we didn't suffer then we wouldn't feel like we have a need for a "savior". So really if you believe the WT bullshit doctrine, if we didn't suffer then it would not be proof of the last days. If you look at it this way it is in god's best interest that we suffer. If we DID take care of the earth and if everyone on the earth was at PEACE etc....then where is our need for relief? He left us alone with a book that even geniuses can not comprehend....he "predicts" failure...and according to him we are getting dumber and dumber as the generations progresses..and we are blamed for a failure??!!!! It has nothing to do with an "all knowing", omni-present, powerful spirit creature just looking on....hoping that we fail and suffer and come running back to him...he shares no blame??!!
The basic truth is this.....most of us are doing the best we can...we work to provide for our families...we try and take care of each other in our limited way.... we don't have the power or influence or even the know how to make things better or worse for that matter. We are just living.....so don't blame us.

Welcome!!!!!! Your story was very sad but there is light at the end of the tunnel...a light some never see. You see the "truth" for what it is and you have the rest of your life in front of you, go where your heart leads. This is a very good place to confirm to yourself that your making the right choice by getting out of a controlling sect...I had a lot of "friends" that were in but I see now that it was unconditional friendships. I have made a lot of very close friends that love me for me...the good the bad and the ugly they are still there. You'll see. Welcome!!!!
ok, i'm writing this thru tears as i just found out in the last 5 minutes.
my dad died in august, and they had been together just 1 or 2 weeks over 70 years married!
i didn't expect her to last without him, and visa versa.. i just tried to call my sister, and no answer there.
Brenda.....so sad for you.....it's sad how a cult can still hurt you even when you have removed yourself from it. My heart goes out to you....and I pray a blessing of peace and calm for you, something those in the borg no nothing about.
I also have an additional thought. I DO blame the borg 90% for your familys hard heartedness....but (not knowing your family just taking a stab) I bet your family was not the most pleasant people to be around even when you were in the borg. I have found that most a**holes in the borg were a**holes before they came in they just twist scriptures (imagine that) and even twist Society protocols to become even bigger a**holes. Any family member(s) that could do this to another must be so miserable that they have to hurt others to try to make themselves feel better.
The sweetest revenge is living a peaceful happy life. That is hot coals on miserable peoples' heads to know we don't need them to make us happy, in fact every day you are happy without those disgruntled people in your life that is a victorious day for you.

i don't know if that's the universal jw term for potluck nights or if all congregations have them but all the ones i went to had a potluck night at the book studies once a month.
does anybody have any good stories related to these occasions?
tonight my family is going to a potluck night and as usual they asked me to make something for it.
I used to look forward to goody night, but being the rebel I am :) I didn't like being told what to do. Why should I have to go to a meeting and cook on the same night??
We always had this pioneer sister who wouldn't work for nothing; she was always looking for a handout. She LOVED goody night. She would always bring something she had already ate half of (gross). Then she would leave with an extra plate of food. The kids would run around eating in the hall and leave crumbs all over the place. Good times.

McNabb is the greatest!!!!! In the first half noone else could make a play so several times....he would step back....look around and then say f*** it and he made the play by himself. Now that's a good QB.
