ask them to read through Zechariah with you, the first few chapters. Then point out its very interesting where the conversation between the angel and GOD speaks of his people having been captive for 70 years. then ask them what date zechariah was written. take them to the back of THEIR OWN bible to check the date ( approx 518 ) , then ask them to explain 607 to you lol. hmmmm its that 20 year thing again . also ask the average lifespan of people back then. because using their 607 date the average person must have lived to be over 100 years old ( most unlikely ) compared to using the 587 date gives an average age of 80 years old. you could try and get KLASSENS CHRONOLOGY of the bible and gentile times reconsidered the babylonians by H.W.F Saggs and apparently their is now more evidence to show nebuchadrezzars reigning dates than to support the 539 date. remember its been many years since the watchtower started all this nonsense and thousands of business documents and other items have been uncovered/excavated. all the best Ade

where it appears to be teaching of jesus being bought forth by yahweh, as the beginning of his way (however not the begging for god has none ).

Hi Heathen, As of recent times i have had the same mode of thinking as yourself, especially after dwelling on John 2:20 where Jesus speaks of raising the temple which is his body he states as you probably know "I will raise this temple " which is his body. also why would he not rebuke Thomas for saying "my Lord and my God" when The angel was quick to correct John in Revelation. Hi bear with me whilst i cover a point first. to the writer of this comment If getting people out of the JWs was as simple as winning the argument, would they still have 6000000 members? Why is your colleague getting involved? What is her background? What is she getting out of this? The JWs are fulfilling a need. Find out what she needs, and give her an alternative. thats so true, i recently confronted two elders and an overseer with the millerite "Daniel and John" prophecy chart, all they did after finding out their Daniel book was a complete lie was shrug their shoulders and say "that wont stop me going , i have nothing else" even after asking them whether it was right to follow GOD or men i got the same comment. She obviously is/has been searching for GOD so deliver what you can to her the best you can. maybe visual aids like showing her the "millerite" chart and then the Daniel book showing her the two and proving its a fallacy that they were given divine interpretation of the book will give her a rude awakening, horses for courses as they say. i have the chart if you want it emailed drop me a mail. then ask her why GODS true people would have to borrow other people's prophecies especially when they never came to pass either.I'm sure many others here collectively could supply some superb material to show her. all the best Ade

God's name ??

i know this has probably been covered before, if so i apologize for dragging it up again.

1) is it acceptable just because its an accepted pronunciation to call god je-ho-vah

2) should the witnesses constantly be saying jehovah this and jehovah that, as it seems to me to be taking up gods name ( if it is correct ) in a worthless way.

I prefer just to refer to GOD as father ( the way Jesus instructed us to ), as i feel i cannot thus offend the true GOD, at least by mis-pronunciation of HIS name. I also agree that people theorize the way it should truly be pronounced, but we should think how quick we are if someone gets our name wrong, and how annoyed if they continue to do so. all the best GOD bless you all Ade

The meaning of the word "version"

i have a question.

i was recently talking to some jw acquaintances and was told that the king james version, niv all the other translations i was mentioning are just "versions " of the bible whereas the nwt is a translation.

i was stunned and could not come back with an inteligent and scholarly reply(well aint that the pot calling the kettle black did not sound neither inteligent nor scholarly).

you should really just enquire of them which of the so called versions they have fully read so as to make such a remark!! Then ask them to sit down with their own interlinear translation and explain why their bible has so many obvious errors in it ( its obviously to assist with their doctrine ).also why the original aramaic/greek text in the left column of their own interlinear bible bears no resemblance to the english in the right hand column of the same bible. Also ask them if its the case that the King james versions etc are so bad . Why the WTBTS bought the Emphatic Diaglott ( now the interlinear ) from the vatican ?? - what were they doing reading Vatican manuscripts in the first place . surely that is using Babylon the great literature in their eyes. Then you could question them as to how brother Knorr could translate a bible with no formal training in languages?? Some of the errors include ; John 1:1 in (the) beginning was the Word, and the Word was - God, and God was the Word. In the original text the subject has the article and the predicate has it not; hence translate "The Word was God" Their translation "And in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the word was A god" Also ask them to make true sense with you concerning Reveation/Apocalypse 1:7 - 8 . where they have added the phrase " I AM the alpha and the omega says JEHOVAH GOD" however verse 7 is most definately speaking of Jesus Christ . this verse in their own Diaglott/Interlinear is translated "I AM the alpha and the Omega saith the Lord God, Which is, and which was, and which is to come, The Almighty" They have changed their bible to doctrinate unsuspecting peoples. Then read Revelation 22:18 "If anyone shall taketh the words from this prophecy, then God shall taketh he from the scroll of life". to Add your own wording is to take away the authors thougts from the prophecy. so therefore ask them if they can expect to be in the book of life ??? there are many more errors and deviances in their "version" of the scriptures hope this helps a little God bless you and yours -Ade

To illustrate, would you in conversation keep saying ohhh Bob this and Bob that etc ( Bob being your earthly father ) 3) Why did Jesus never actually mention his Fathers name or indeed tell us to use it in prayer etc ( although the society have placed it constantly throughout the N.T) 4) It would appear the Divine name was not said by the Jews out of reverence for the creator ( not out of Jewish superstition as the WTBTS try to teach/or at least in the UK they teach this ) - is anyone/everyone in agreement with this statement. 5) Would we not be closer to say Yah-Weh if we were to pronounce GODS name. "what does the bible really teach"they are studying this while the light is shining brighter , however due to possible future electricity cuts the light may go dim, however a few years later the light will shine brighter again. possible future releases include : FLIP FLOPS - no its not a book about the footwear in Israel, its about doctrinal changes . wouldnt it be nice to have revelation part 2 : all the bits they missed out of part 1 because they cant get away with explaining them without proving ourselves wrong !!! Please help - convention info

i decided to skip the convention for the first time this year.

i have been telling everyone in my congregation that i went but just didn't see them there.

a few nosey individuals are getting suspicious and they are trying to find out if i really went or not.
