I sent him a letter, here is his reply!

hey folks,.

for those of you who dont know, i sent my jw friend a letter " http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/121182/1.ashx " after about 3 weeks, i got his reply in my inbox.

i was pretty excited to read it, but only was i disappointed with some of the things he said, and ill explain that after you read it, so here it is: .

Hi,
i found this particular part of the letter amusing;"But to answer the question about friendship, do you suppose your friendship should mean more to me than my friendship with God? And can we stop with the whole line about "I'm just asking questions" first of all their not even your questions, I find it hard to belive you were one day reading a yearbook of ours and had a question about it. All the questions about 1975 and so forth was stuff you got off the Internet.

There are no original questions, only unaswerable ones that cause argumentations between men. Didnt Jesus our exemplar tell us to "question" whether it is the truth or not ?? so therefore if we cannot question how can we obtain a true view of "truth"

i would send him a final mail, asking him to explain the beginnings of the bible students to witnesses and
see if he can explain why CT Russell got his information from angels and Rutherford got some information from the dead CT Russell, when Jesus stated he was with us until the end of the age. So CT Russell should never have needed the "truth" passed to him , as it was already there from Jesus time onward.

BTW i have no doubt about my faith or that i can disprove theirs in many areas, if your friend is so sure he can have my email address and i will discuss his "truth" with him .

JW Hall set in fire in Finland

"a jehovah's witnesses' kingdom hall in the finnish city of vantaa, which flanks helsinki in the north, was badly damaged by fire in the early hours of wednesday.

police told the finnish news agency (stt) that they suspected arson as the fire had started from a door bay.

no one was hurt in the fire and, thanks to the fact that the building is situated on a large plot, there was no danger of it spreading to nearby residential buildings.

Trying to install 95 WT Library & Need Help

i recently obtained the 1995 wt library cd-rom and have been trying to get it to work.

it took a few attempts to get it to install but i keep on getting an abormal program termination when i try to use it.

i figure there are configuration issues since it's so old.

Do JWs know about the phrophecy of Ezekiel?

The three ( one complete set ) of Ezekiel books have been dropped completely. They know the Ezekiel book from their point of view ( having to change certain parts that refer to Jesus - to make them look like they apply to YHWH ). I had a sister ask me ( just before i DA'd ) if i could explain ezekiel to her ( she was trying to say - without the society no one could ) , so i asked her to come around and we would read it together - needless to say she has never visited since.

Who is Jesus? Is he God?

months ago, i had some jw's come by and talk with me.

i'm a believer in the holy bible.

I have found that there are for and against trinitarian views in the scriptures. I wont list them all as im sure they have been thoroughly researched.What i will say is that now in my view, it really doesnt matter because if we follow Jesus, Have faith in Jesus, accept there is a Father whom we pray to, as Jesus said.We are not breaking any commands, disrespecting either of them or commiting any other Grievious sin.

I feel therefore it is something none of us can fully understand, and the time spent arguing about it can be more productively spent elsewhere.

three wise men

a while back i posted on a story found in the watchtowers childrens bible concerning the three wise men going to visit jesus, in the childrens bible the word is rendered "worship" him, as most are aware in the nwt the words are rendered "do obeisance".this post doesnt directly cover that, i wanted to find out whether these so called wise men were sent by god or not.

the reason for this is that someone pointed out that this was because the three wise men were (by jw's accounts) sent by satan.i decided to search through the scriptures to decide for myself whether there was an adequate reason for them to make such a statement.

if this has been covered before many apologies.

The reason for this is that Someone pointed out that this was because the three wise men were (by JW's accounts) sent by Satan.I decided to search through the scriptures to decide for myself whether there was an adequate reason for them to make such a statement. if this has been covered before many apologies.

To cut part of the story short we all know they followed the star, after Herod secretly called them to him , he requested of them to determine the time they had seen the star and they should search carefully for the child so he may also worship Him.They found the child and worshipped Him.Now comes the part where i have a problem with the JW spin on it .

Matt 2:12 "Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed to their country by another way"

The question arises here , if Satan sent the wise men to find Christ why didnt God stop it in the first place, Why didnt God stop them at the last minute, and ultimatley why do we find the wise men have been given a DIVINE warning from GOD not to return to Herod.All of these occurences would appear to point out that the wise men were actually sent by God.

After researching the meaning of "wise men" i discovered that in many instances it was the equivalent of the word "magician" another reason why certain translations actually point towards them being "Magi"/"maji", therefore i cam to the conclusion it would be awkward for the WTBTS to admit they were "magicians" sent by God, as we all know how they feel about magic / sorcery etc.

One rendering of the words "wise men" says "Workers of wonders beyond what is human" it also equivavlates wise men with magicians.

Now we come to some interesting scriptures which in terms of being a JW could become seriously problematic.I will share with you some verses from daniel Dan 2:20 "Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers , the sorcerers , and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king"
between these verses they obviously couldnt reveal any meaning to the king
Dan 2:12 "For this reason the king was angry and very furious. and gave the command to destroy the wise men of Babylon"
Here we find Sorcerers, astrologers, Chaldeans and magicians described as wise men.
Dan 4:8 tells us that Daniels name was changed to Belteshazzar
Dan 4:9 nebuchadnezzar says "Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because i know that the spirit of the Holy God is in you....."
Here we find Daniel being referred to as the "Chief of magicians"
Dan 5:7 "The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, and the soothsayers.The king spoke , saying to the wise men of Babylon....."

So to cover it briefly,

The wise men could have been viewed as magicians and still been from God
It doesnt seem theoretically correct to presume the wise men were sent by Satan, when they were given "Divine" warning by God not to go back to Herod.
If the Star was sent by Satan surely he would have given Herod a dream to tell him what the star meant so he could indeed remove the Messiah.
If Daniel was/can be classed as a magician or was by the Babylonians, Does that mean as a JW you cant accept Daniels prophecy - because if you can it seems illogical that you cant accept the wise men as being sent by God.

what is pornea?

?i've heard this term before and i never knew exactly what it meant.why is it diffrant than fornication?

?why when people go to jc do they have to find out if it's been committed?

What would you notice first if you went back to a Kingdom Hall?

first thing i'd notice is how the old ones got so much older and how the kids became adults and are taller than me.. next thing i'd notice would be how long and dull the meetings are.. *yawn*.

Lies , boredom , repetition , arrogance , ignorance , bad pronunciation , incorrect translation , seats that make my backside sweat, seats too close together my shoulders dont fit between them , an unreasonable urge to need the toilet ??

im sure there are more reasons lol

with regards to the following my friend ( btw - its great to have you here and i really sympathize with your frame of mind at the moment )

q)Can anyone tell me how I find peace of mind ? How I feel my life is not pointless ?
a)you will have peace of mind by reading the bible and finding out all that youve missed by being caught in the societys deceptions ( worked for me anyhow - if you like to chat about any scriptures - drop me a pm - i'd really enjoy that )

q)I truly feel lost . I am having such a bad time - my family are all JW:s and where do I go ?
a)unfortunatley we all feel that way ( abandoned ) our few friends were jw's now we have none ( and my family never contact me ) you shouldnt ask where to go - youve found us , most of us have suffered this too . if you live uk and want to call me , i'll send you my phone number, if you live locally come round for a tea/coffee )

q)I have no hate and regret nothing because I met my wife "in the truth " and we have 3 wonderful children so how can I regret that ?
a)fortunately my wife saw sense and also doesnt associate with them, she is hopefully soon to write a da'ing letter. i have three kids and also cant say i regret a thing.

q)My life is filled with confusion as my wife and I are no longer together ( another story for another time ).
a) i couldnt imagine living without my wife, she is the one ( besides divine help ) who has gotten me through a serious bot of panic attacks and depression. In your situation i would worried myself to death, your doing well to talk to us about it.

q)If I am honest I have suicidal thoughts , because of my children I am pretty sure I wouldn't do it but they occur .
a)My stepfather has not long commited suicide , he chose to hang himself, i had to deal with it all, tidying the area where he did it , seeing the colour of his skin and removing the rope he did it with etc.partly this was due to the witnesses, and their glorious way of making you feel you are never quite doing enough for GOD.

Please don't think I am being alarmist or attention seeking , I am just lost and want to live out the rest of my days in freedom and with purpose.
a) i had the feeling of this when i was having panic attacks, i thought people may have thought i was seeking attention, i wasnt - it was genuine, you very likely have many days ahead of you truly serving GOD which you havent been doing previously ( even though you thought you were ) , better still i'm sure you will make TRUE friends here, very rarely in life is a much compassion and love passed around as it is with we so called APOSTATES. you will make many friends here and i would be glad to be one of them .

Is the name Jehovah the GOD of the WTBS?

if the english version of jehovah is not correct and the wtbs insist on using it based on their research is it right to say that this is the god of jehovahs witnesses?

Jehovah - There is no conclusive evidence that this is the correct way to say Gods name, but much evidence to prove contrary to it, YahWeh would be a better assumption - however the JW's will say Jehovah is an accepted form of Gods name ( acceptable to whom ?? ), however note that Jesus said we should pray this way " Our father ... " if use of a name was important Jesus would most definatley would have said so

They idolize the faithful and discrete slave class above all else, they therefore anull the scripture that there is but one mediator between men and God - Our Lord Jesus Christ ( the FDS have replaced Jesus role ), they indeed beleive their FDS are infallible ( even though they cant admit this ) and the FDS cant admit they make errors in doctrine etc, therefore when the "light shines brighter until the day is firmly established" it is the brothers and sisters errors that come to light.

To hold a group of people in such high esteem is basically worship or as the WTBTS like to put it "doing obeisance", anyone worshipped is an idol, any idol worship is against God.

So lets all go figure
