Fluff a dub: Brushes with Fame?
by Crumpet inso who have you met who is famous or slightly famous and under what circumstances?
(for the benefit of cross atlantic variations in celebrity - attach a pic and/or explanation of who that celeb is) .
or have you never met anyone even slightly famous but have aspirations to do so!

I went to Penn State for 4 years and I met two huge celebrities and some other minor ones which I won't mention.
I was Allen Iverson's waiter twice because the 76ers use Penn State as their training camp. (He tips well)
I also met the greatest college football coach of all time which was a huge deal.
Both celebs were pretty nice. -

A bit reluctant
by saki2fifty ini'm a bit reluctant in writing this post, for i dont feel i should be here.
even a bit nervous... .
i've never officially dedicated myself to jehovah, but i was brought up in the truth, very strong, and at times when getting older, there were lulls in my attendance... yet to this day i still attend.

I agree that everyone is here for different reasons. We all have at least one thing in common. We have questions we want answers to. Whether its Doctrinal, or personal we are looking to others for support. You will find support here.

No Resurrection For Disfellowshipped?
by ThomasCovenant insorry if this has been covered already.. 1) what is the written policy about disfellowshipped ones having a resurrection?.
2) what if the disfellowshipped one is d'd for apostasy?.
reason i ask is an ex elder who was disfellowshipped for apostasy is very ill and may very likely die soon.

Yeah thats some question. Its like she should be begging for him to die as soon as possible because then he will be resurrected for sure. What a twisted thought process the WTS gives to people. My mom used to beg my "unbelieving" father to quit smoking all the time and one day I said that very thing to her, " wouldn't you rather that Dad keep smoking so he dies and then will be ressurected" I think I blew her mind for a second, but it wore off.

I came home to find my wife crying over THAT article.
by jambon1 ini came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.
its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.
but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

I also wondered what my mother would think when she got around to reading the article. How would she react to how the WTS is spinning my decision. Also I sympathize with you Jambon because growing up in a home where my father was an "unbeliever" (great father and provider) I was told my father would die in Armegeddon which was going to happen in a few years at most. How did that make me feel about my father? The man I looked up to the most. Its so fucked up, the best thing you can do is just be happy you've seen the light sooner than later. It may be hard right now, but hopefully that will change. Good Luck.

My first blood donation
by sass_my_frass in... has been scheduled.
i've been to the clinic to watch mr frass donate, and it was pretty confronting.
still i've realised that if i'm happy with taking blood, i should be happy to give it too, so i'm going to become a donor.

I was dfed in 98 but didn't give blood until 2004 even though I never really had any objections too it (raised Jdub). I was talking to my mother a few months ago and somehow it came up and she was shocked. I told it felt good to do it because it may save someones life one day and she told me that my blood was sacred and that I have sinned. I remembered then what a big deal it was for the dubs.

My Story..... Need advice on reinstatement Letter.
by jrjr4189 ini've been a member of the site for a month, but have been reading the posts for a lot longer, however this is my first post.
i was raised a j-dub by my mother (my father wasn't religious) with my sister and brother.
i was pretty much convinced by my dub friends, bible study conductor, and mother that i should get baptized when i was 15 and decided to go for it.

Everybodys comments helped me so much. There are however a few things I would like to make more clear. 1) My wife is a complete agnostic who has no faith in any religion, as I do at this point. She knows all about the J-Dub religion, as I have not hidden anything from her. She thinks they are the coldest religion on earth and cannot believe the shunning from family, in her words, " I feel like puking when your cousin gives me hug and kiss and won't even look at you." The thing is, she is savvy enough to understand what I'm doing and supports it. She wants me to play the game if I'm willing to put up some of the bullshit. 2) I will not let the elders invade my personal life and I will lie at any point to counter their arguments. When we have children we will let our children decide they have any interest in Watchtower Organization. Trust me, they won't after what we show and tell them. 3) If I did get d'fd again,,,, SO WHAT. Thats where I am right now. Any comments about this I will appreciate. At least I know I can always come here for some venting and support. You guys rule. JR
