  Great letter!

  However, I doubt any GB member will ever see it. It will be sent to the Service Dept. and someone will read it and see that it cannot be traced and then it will be put in the, "round file".

  Why? Because they don't really care. They don't have to read it or respond to it. Now, if you were a threat to them or something that's another matter.

  The bottom line is....What's in it for them? Nothing. Your views are a non-issue to them. If they cared, they would have done something long ago, but they don't really care.

  The best thing you can do, you've already done.....You let people know! You put it HERE! Ooooooh...they hate that!

  Would they bother preaching

  if your average publisher believed that the big a was definately not going to come in their lifetime would they bother preaching?

  given that they believe that when you die you go to sleep and wake up in a paradise earth with a clean slate what would be the point of preaching.

  those that have spent there lives as jw's and died what have they gained.

  There's really no such thing as, "What if they knew it wasn't going to come [whenever]".

  That's the one thing the borg really counts on....nobody knows the day or hour, so they MUST preach.

  They have all the bases covered, it's actually borderline brilliant in my opinion.

  when i read all your df stories, i do not notice one thing which seems strange.

  why do you not counter-witness before you are df and shunned.

  If you start counter-witnessing they boot you out in a hurry.

  Most of the time, if you just stop going to meetings and service they want to know WHY, and will boot you out if you tell them you're questioning or doubting, just in case you try to tell anyone else how you feel or what you've learned (you just can't have people thinking for themselves in the cong. you know).

  They've got it down to a science....

  i went to my dad's house for christmas.

  it was the first christmas we celebrated together since i was 5 years old.

  it was my kid's and [freedomloverr's] very first christmas ever.. .

  My wife, lisa, knows exactly what my mom's trying to do.

  In my mother's last letter to Lisa she said she wants to be friends (?). I told Lisa she should write my mom back and ask if that friendship will be based on whether or not she becomes a witness or not. If she says, "of course not!" (and she will) then she can ask her why she doesn't have a friendship with her own son anymore......

  I don't believe in god. But even if he existed, why would we worship him?

  I'm sure there's something bigger out there than us that caused what we have here to be here, but why would that mean that whoever caused what we have to be here expects to be worshipped?

  For example: We as humans are bigger and smarter than most life on this planet. To some forms of life, their whole universe exists in my backyard. So does that mean I should be worshipped? Does it make me a god?

  Sorry to hear about your family, they sound as whacky as mine....

  I DA'd myself 4 years ago, and my dub mother has recently started to write letters to my wife (we just got married in Nov.). My mom's trying to start a "friendship" with her, although she won't have anything to do with me her own son. I think she's trying to recruit her....

  Anyway.....I had the same conversation you did with my sister a few months back. I understand how you feel. It's hard to believe people (family) can be so....disappointing. GYMBB

  What a unbelievable experience you've had LL, I might as well add my 2 cents also (I got shunned by a former elder friend today at the bank, so i'm really in the mood!).

  Don't leave it up to the elders to deal with these people, this is not a cong. matter, report the crime to law enforcement and let them deal with it.

  Contact the local media about what you believe is a "hate crime". Tell them your story, trust me, they will want to hear it.

  And just a side point.... if these were 30-40 year old witness men sitting around playing cards on New Year's Eve, and you think they had not had a few beers already....(?)....I'm just wondering what color the sky is, in that little world you live in? GYMBOB

  quotes from the wt publications are indeed hair raising enough.

  but i find the utterances of jehovahs witnesses themselves to be even more intriguing.

  mainly because it shows just what kind of people the religion produces.. below are some that stand out to me in from my time in the organisation.

  I baptized a few people at circuit assemblies back in the late 80's....they always had somebody watching to make sure everything went under. I'd just tell them to keep their feet on the pool floor, bend at the knees and fall back.

  It's hard to believe some people would freak-out about a toe (or nipple) not going under....oh wait, these are j-dubs! Not so hard to believe now....

  Shunned - but still friends?

  yesterday, we got an email from our former best friends (for about 15years).

  they never told us directly that they are going to shun us but just did not phone any more.

  now, there was a reason to email them because we had a not jw related question.
