Christianity isn't, "Are you DOING it all?" That's called WORKS. It's all about grace and accepting Christ as your saviour from hypocrisy and failures. That's called GRACE.

Trying to pick at individuals failures doesn't prove anything but our own weaknesses. The point is we are all hypocrates and failures. That is what the Bible's point is. To show that our works can't accomplish anything. Our only way to a whole life and one with eternity in view is to accept that fact that we can't do it and to accept Christ's life and sacrifice in our place.

The whole thing falls into place after that. Being forgiven and loved makes you WANT to do what is good. It doesn't mean you will always do it.

Just ran into a DFd Witness trying to "come back"

i invited him to come inside the coffee shop where i am working (on a book about jws) and he came in saying he had to make it back to the convention center for his assembly, but he was very leary.

he came in and i invited him to sit down but he woudn't.

he said he couldn't answer any questions because he was disfellowshipped.

I was always up for it as well.

I remember pridefully thinking that I can go to the priests house and getting into hour conversations.

I remember days of 7 pentecostals coming onto the porch with me or long conversations with born againers. (of which I am now!)

I always felt that I had the truth and I could face anything. I was always willing to hear others point of views because I knew I had the truth.

After 30 years of such confidence and willing to hear the other side of things, I finally found out the real truth and I was OUTTA THERE! I guess that confidence did me in...

hi everyone, don't know if you remember me, i posted a topic a while ago because i was in need of advice about what to do in my life - so to all you who took your time and posted caring replys and good advice, i just want to say that i've made up my mind - i'm continuing my fade for the fourth month and i'm gone from the borg for good.

if some elders decide to stick their nose in it, i'll shut the door myself.

there's no future in staying in there for the sake of anyone else, lying to yourself and everyone else.

Since getting out, I have noticed how Christianity is very much into addressing the needs of the heart and bringing a person into being whole!

They encourage you to listen to your heart. As a jw, I was drilled with, "don't listen to your heart! The heart is DESPERATE and WHO CAN TRUST IT?!!!" All that ended up being was, don't listen to your heart, even though it hurts and doesn't make sense to ignore your df'd family member. It was just more mind control!

I have never felt better in my life and I see it continuing and getting better and better! I have never been more loved in my life! Life is awesome and God is Great! I never had feelings like that before and I tried pretty hard as a jw to get that feeling. Now it is just a gift and not something I have to go after.

I shed a tear for my girls every week as I think of them trying to work so hard at a relationship with God and trying to fit into such a rigid, mind controlling, cult. Then to top it all off being viewed as dangerous and bad association and someone to never associate with.

I feel so bad for those in the hall... I was there once, 30 years! The last two have been the greatest and I have never felt closer to God. Leaving the deathgrip of a works oriented religion was the best thing I have ever done! I am in shock how great it has been after thinking jw was everything.

ok, slowly awakening and fading at the same time for two years now, and did not plan it.

i tell my wife last night i have been having some interesting e-mails with my dad about the qb from the sept km we are to study this week.

she says she has read it, but does not remember it.

Sorry you are having troubles at home on your journey out of the borg.

It sure will be interesting to see how the borg continues to tighten it's grip on it's members for fear of losing everything.....

I must say Goodbye for now

this may not be a forever goodbye, but its certainly a goodbye to this stage of my life because i need to make real progress instead of just talking about it.

i may post the odd post on a rare occasion, but its not part of my plan really.. i posted a topic called the truth, which was originally going to be my farewell to this forum.

i think with my current situation, having a son and having a family that requires my attention it would be wise for me to move on in some shape or form, because i dont want the negativity of the watchtower society to rub off on my son and give him any of the grief and worries i had when i was growing up.

Has anyone found dating as an EX JW difficult?

just curious as to what difficulties have faced people dating as an ex jw.

myself, i have noticed the glazed over look in a guy's eyes when you try to explain why your family doesn't celebrate the holidays with you etc.

new to this board, so if this has been well covered before, please forgive me.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I just got married and I had two people in an audience of 90 that were from my side. It was my aunt who was never a jw and her friend who knew me as an infant.

The whole group was very supportive and saw my family and friends from jw as the ones that were missing out and how poorly this reflected upon jw!

They have always been supportive and friendly and upbuilding. They are just glad to have me OUT!

For those of you who have loved ones on the inside....

I'm with you, Hermano...

I've gone through the same thing. I want my 3 daughters out, my father, and my sister. It kills me. But I am beginning to think live and let live; live a good life; continue to offer myself to them in a positive way; and wait for THEM to come to me.

It is SLOW and PAINFUL. I'm not sure it will ever happen, but sending emails explaining everything has not worked for me either.

Sometimes to find truth you have to LOOK for it. You can't force someone to COME to it.

I sure wish one could. I'm trying to get on with my new life and send my loved ones a letter from time to time just about simple, positive, loving notes to let them know I care and love them. Maybe one day what happened to me will happen to them and they will need a listening ear.
