I'm glad y'all found Crossquestions's video. I've known this cat for about 17 years; he is the longest running friend that I have, and for a long time, I thought he would never join me on the outside.
About November or December of last year, I got a text out of the blue from him. Once I figured out who was texting me, he dropped the bomb that he was leaving. I had no freaking clue that he would do this! Not long after that, we met up in person, had lunch, caught up on our lives and whatnot. I was just in a world of amazement that he was leaving the org.
Seeing him get this kind of attention is great, and as soon as I get the time (whenever that is!!), I'm going to be making a "best of" video using all these recordings, per his request. I'm not sure if he even knows about this board, so I'll drop him a line and ask if he's signed up here yet.

I think there are good points being drowned out due to bad presentation in a few areas. I went down to (what's left of) Occupy San Diego to see what was going on last weekend. There were the occupiers clustered around a blood stain, which had been claimed as the blood of a young lady getting cracked by the cops as they raided the encampment in the Civic Center plaza. There wasn't any marching, just people standing around. There were more cops than protesters, but they were also just clumped in groups. I was a amused by subtle tension of everyone just standing around, but afraid (or unwilling) to go near each other.
The ground was wet from being power-washed. I saw some open jars of peanut butter from the few people on the outside with actual signs. Only a couple protesters seemed to be open to talking to myself and my gf.
We asked some cops what happened, and they were quite friendly to us. They told us about how one shop owner had to close her business down for good, since people robbed her store in the plaza. The cop said it was due to people "having nothing to do" with the movement, just there to cash in on the mob of people. One officer said he agreed with their message and thought it was needed, but mentioned that the real OWS crowd was only there for about two weeks, then the looters and troublemakers came in.
On November 4, we took another gander at the brave souls still camped out on the sidewalk in the rain. I saw one lady with a sign in a poncho. Kinda hard to keep the momentum up when, as the officer told us, about 50 people had been arrested.

I can definitely see these protests as the symptoms of a nation frustrated to the core with how things are going--first the Tea Partiers, now the OWS people. Banks play fast and loose with toxic mortgages, then they screw up only to get bailed out? That ain't right, no matter what your political orientation is. My personal beef is with the health industry and insurance companies, but I'll admit I haven't done too much research into how the health insurance industry operates, so I'm not sure I can articulate what the problem there is.

The anger is upsetting, but very telling...when people can't respond rationally to things, they get angry. Every time. When I confronted my dad, he got angry. The more truth you are revealing, the deeper it cuts, the deeper the anger. I for one, welcome it, because it's proof that WT apologists are seriously off their game (though that does make one wonder, when were they ever? Decades ago?).

New Literature Arrangement
by Quarterback injust recently the org has changed the literature distribution to the congregation members.. the changes are:.
1) publishers are to pick-up their mag's weekly in preparation for what they think they will use that week.
2) group conductors shall now distribute the study article of the wt, and the km.. wonder why they have changed this?.

As a JW - Did you See Meetings Continue in Spite of Medical Emergencies?
by flipper ini was talking the other day with a fellow board member about medical emergencies occuring at meetings and how we both agreed that we ( while jw's ) had never seen a meeting stop or be cancelled due to medical emergencies experienced by a fellow jw.
the wt society trains jw' s to lose their authentic human feelings or any empathy towards others physical or emotional sufferings many times.
so many times at meetings , in spite of someone suffering a serious medical emergency it was " the show must go on " type of attitude displayed by congregation elders.. my first experience at seeing a medical emergency at the kingdom hall was an older sister who had an epileptic attack.

There was one time when I was manning the sound booth, and this girl's father was having a stroke, I think. He was able to get outside and get some air. I called 911 for him, but since he was already outside it wasn't that big of a deal. It felt good to have reacted pretty well, but I remember being very concerned for him.
One time a brother had a panic attack on stage, but he'd prepared for it. He just excused himself and another brother took over. The guy with the attack just walked away briskly with a contorted look on his face.
I think in these situations it's good to remind everyone not to panic, stay out of the way, etc. I think something should be said about keeping the person in our prayers, etc. Tend to the emergency, keep everyone calm. But don't say absolutely nothing.
