Do people still do tailgate parties out in the parking lot, I remember some elders got pissed because my fam brought cooler, lawn chairs and small table, its all silly just another way for these people who have no power in the real world to push their power that the kingdumb hall gave them.
--Wordly Andre
What a bunch of jerks. I guess the elders were upset because people were getting to comfortable, and actually enjoying themselves!

Dang, SirNose, you've got GREAT taste in music! You forgot the Commodores! "Slippery When Wet" is still all hot and funky. I have the live version.
--asleif_dufansdottir
Thanks! Oh, I have some Commodores, but I didn't get into them as much as the others. I like Machine Gun, Brick House, and Lady (You Bring Me Up), of theirs. But that's what I'm into, a whole lot of funk. I've put together compilations for myself and friends, just so they can see where their hip hop came from.
Sir Nose I knew you were an Earth, Wind & Fire fan, I saw them in Manchester in May minus Maurice, and saw George Clinton last week. Still not bad for their age.

I've seen them only once, and they were with Chicago. They both rocked. I bought a shirt there and I don't want to wear it for fear I will get food on it. :D -

OMG I'm one of Satan's spears...
by TresHappy inaccording to the 2 jw sisters at my door this morning.
i told them they were deceived and had bad taste in door-to-door fashion!

How judgmental of them! Really, they should know better. Because as we know, we are doing the separating of sheep and goats we are supposed to be pleasant when we go to the doors.

Let's have a parade and destroy Watchtowers!
by TresHappy inthe apostle wears a bulletproof vest when he's preaching in colombia, retains a battalion of 50 bodyguards across the united states and drives to his doral church headquarters in an armored seven series bmw.. followers say he's jesus.
detractors call him a cult leader.
and jose luis de jesus miranda -- a paunchy, middle-aged man from puerto rico who favors $10,000 rolexes and claims millions of disciples worldwide -- believes many people would like to see him dead.. it's no wonder the sect generates controversy.

Another Jonestown in the making.

Or another Waco. So, a man claims to be the sole interpreter of scripture? Hmmm, where have I heard this before?? -

Voluntary answering at meetings
by ThomasCovenant inwatchtower august 1st 1953 page 458.
'hence starting with the congregational study of this issue of the magazine, the conductor may call on persons whether they volunteer or not'.
i never saw this happen at my meeting.

I've seen this happen probably only one or two times. I remember it happening though, because it scared the daylights out of me.

Were YOU Depressed When You Were A Witness?
by minimus ini've seen soooo many witnesses taking meds or alcohol because of unhappiness and depression.
i know of one woman who regularly gos to her shrink and is the most depressed person that i know of.
personally, i believe it's because a jw can never do enough to satisfy god or the elders....what do you think?
-
SirNose586
Nothing's been diagnosed, but I probably have depression. It does run in both sides of my family, though I can say it really only manifests itself in the dub members of my extended family. I know my mom and dad both have it, and so does my grampa on my mom's side. If other members of the family have it, I don't know because we aren't allowed to spend time with them...

Is becoming a witness the right thing for me
by marketman ini've been struggling for quite some time now about continuing my exploration of the jehovah witness faith.
i am a "cradle" catholic and have been very involved with the church.
i started to become disillusioned several months back with all of the tradition, habits, and teachings of the church--which i began to seriously doubt.

SirNose586
Well, you've come to a good place to find out. Any J-dub can tell you how wonderful it is to be a witness. But to make your decision, you need to evaluate the good and the bad. Here, we quite openly discuss the Society's history and the doctrinal changes. This is the side of being a witness that you will not be exposed to by current witnesses.
