Great Educational Tool for those studying or thinking of studying with JWS
by sf ini was doing some web surfing and catching up on my reading and came upon a post i hope may help some lurkers and seekers understand better what they are getting themselves into or may have already gotten into, by studying the bible with jws.. i surely hope it is not going against any rule to copy/paste this.
i will not include anything but the text.
i will say though that it is from a longstanding exjw support board that can be found here:.

I went to a gathering to hear some stories from pioneers who just returned from working seldom-worked territory in Salt Lake City. Aside from the fact that it was a wasted two hours...I really feel bad for the people they handed books to. It seemed their tactic was to show the pictures and then ask, "Wouldn't you like to live here?" You get hooked in with the pandas and tiger cubs, but you pay for it in the end...
They described a territory of around 100,000 people, and no Kingdom Hall in the area. Those are some lucky people.

I don't think lib'ruls have an equivalent to Mann. The closest person, as far as personal zeal and outspokenness goes, would probably be Cindy Sheehan.

Oh, I got words for Mann Coulter. But because they'd break TOS rules 1-3, I'll keep it to myself...
I will say this though, she's an embarrassment to the conservative movement. I feel bad more for them than anything. She's beyond nutjobs like Rush and Hannity, because even they know better than to make fun of certain people, like the 9-11 widows.
Isn't she like the Republican version of Al Franken? My BF LOVES her and has her book. I haven't read it, so I don't have an opinion.
Republican version of Al Franken? Hah! Franken is articulate and educated. You can disagree with Franken all you want, but Mann Coulter looks like a coked-out tranny. And she's certifiably insane.

Power of Prayer Demonstrated
by Carmel inlast night i took one of my daughter's highschool friends to the rodeo with me since noone else was interested.
we had a good time with the freebee vip tickets, barby and then the rodeo.
before the first event there was a half hour of pagentry which was okay, but it was interrrupted by an "invocation" by one of the local baptist ministers.

Carmel,
God only listens to Jehovah's Witnesses and then only those who preach, do not lead double lives, study diligently for the meetings, and lust longingly for the next Watchtower to arrive. I suspect that he is virtually unemployed.
That's a good one, Hillary. He must have that 'prayer-blocking' cloud working overtime.

80% of Near Death Experiencers Can't Wear Watches...
by FMZ ini have had about 5 digital watches since my nde when i was young.
every single one of them reset itself regularly.
2 of them i gave away because of the problems i had, and their new owners (my father and brother) never had a problem with the watches since..

Well, two years ago I had an accident on the highway and went spinning; I really thought I was gonna die...
But sure enough, I don't wear a watch anymore. There's no need, because I take my phone everywhere I go. I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. Nothing prevents me from wearing a watch. I just don't want to.

Tv Show with a JW
by JWdaughter inok, last night i watched a food show where some cute australian guy picks up shopping housewives, offers to fix them and their family dinner and comes home with them after shopping.
so, he talks to this cute little housewife shopping for her husbands dinner and strikes up a conversation with her, finds out what she had planned for the day..
she teaches bible lessons to people and that is how she was going to spend her afternoon.

Anyway, she was a cute lady, and nice, and there were a couple of non JW'y "Oh MY GODS" when hubby came home, but it was otherwise unremarkable.
What were the OMG's for? Was he disturbed?

the all knowing god?
by the dreamer dreaming indont know if this has been discussed or not...but.... it always bothered me when people claimed that god is all knowing... what exactly does that really mean or can mean?.
after all, according to all, there was some point when only god existed and so its pretty easy to be all knowing when there is nothing to know.. but why should we assume that a being who had no one teach him and nothing to learn from could be anything but insane?.
we should trust god, some have told me, because he made everything and therefore knows everything about what he made... sorry, but that does not follow at all.. my subconscious, apparently, seems to be able to manifest many dreams of very complex things which leaves me puzzled as to their workings not understanding them at all..... the bible shows god to be less than all knowing on many occasions, especially in genesis 18:20-21 where he is going to investigate a report that has come to him.... from where or who we are not told.... but it makes it clear he is desiring to find out if the report is accurate or not... .

This thought was pretty recently restated in a Watchtower. Apparently God can see the future, but chooses not to in certain situations. That one threw me for a loop. If you could see into the future, wouldn't you do it all the time?
Another situation: if God is all knowing, then he can read people's hearts. If that's the case, then why did he leave Satan in close proximity to A&E, knowing Satan could deceive the puny humans? Or is it like the Force, where Yoda can sense subtle changes in people's emotions, but was obliv--
Well. I'd better stop there. The point is, I don't think dubs could come up with a single answer to, "Is God omniscient?"
