Poor kid. I once went through a "shedding 'worldly' friends" phase, but thank goodness they were forgiving people. My JW friends turned out to be the ones I needed to avoid, since the non-dubs are loads better.

Advice on how to shed your worldly friends.
by iknowall558 inalana christinei have a question for you guys out there who have enough knowledge about my situatuion to inform on me as much as you can.
i'm living in the dorms at college right now, yes it's not the best situation for me.
i made a few friends when i arrived, but they weren't the best people even though some say they are religious, ...(they've been baptised but they don't show it).

CO visit provides preview of April generation change!
by agent zero ini thought the april wt's brazen generation doctrine change would barely get an official mention before nor after the two paragraphs that deal with it, but yesterday i went to the circuit overseer's visit and in a talk from a bethel outline, he specifically mentioned the change, and i quote... "the very very very newest information we have available, from the april 15th 2010 watchtower!
" ..reads the infamous paragraphs.. and then, "isn't that wonderful brothers and sisters?
so now we understand that it means that brother russell's life overlapped with brother rutherford's who's life overlapped (he went through them all), so clearly, this means the end is near.".

This C.O. may not be a true believer anymore. Perhaps he's trying to wake people up in his own way.
That's just crazy enough to work. I would think if he were going through all the names of famous dubs that he was making a subtle use of irony.

The Beard Starts TODAY
by Mad Sweeney init was only this past weekend that i finally stated (both aloud and in print) that i would never attend another meeting again.
like many brothers before me, i have decided to symbolize this new dedication to freedom for myself and my family with a beard..

I briefly grew a beard too (upon exiting from the cult), unfortunately for me there are are a few patches where there are no hair follicles and it doesn't look good. Clean shaven for me. :)

I guess I'm just not that creative when it comes to excuses--I'd rather not go just to sit in a crowded room and be lectured on why I can't eat the bread or drink the wine. If I wanted to not eat bread or not drink wine, I'd just as soon stay at home, which I will finally get to do this year!

Something doesn't seem right...one commenter claims this guy is a former JW. I'm a little bit more inclined to believe that he was a former JW, but regardless, this guy is insane and needs to be kept from hurting others.

Spiritually speaking, many
churchgoers have been left bewildered and
disoriented, questioning the value of the
guidance that they have received. That is especially
so in the light of the questionable
conduct and unscriptural teachings of their
religious leaders.Sounds like a description of my experience--as well as thousands of others--of time spent in the org.
Hey WT Headquarters: I hear there is some cheap land down in Gayuna? It's been vacant a good 30 years now...interested? I mean hell, you can relocate EVERYONE down there onto a large "Paradise Earth Compound" in the jungle, to wait out the remaining time until Armaggedon? Hey, we know you've got the money - just do it already!!
WingCommander's got a great point. They should take this whole org=security argument to its logical extreme and get everyone on the compound.

Hey, great point! They claim to be Bible educators, so let them use the Bible alone. I am a bit concerned that this will blow up somehow...

Atheist with crisis of conscience. Please help.
by parakeet ini'm an atheist having a serious crisis of conscience.
please help.. i've read many, many posts that talk about atheism as a faith as distinct as any other faith.
there has also been much made of the atheist lifestyle.. my dilemma -- i don't know what the atheistic faith entails.

All of this is very helpful. Special T-shirts, Darwin as deity, Dawkins as prophet, bad manners to all.
There are no brothels in my small town (that I know of). Any suitable alternative sites? Remember I'm female and in my late 50s.
It would be especially nice if those who insist atheism is a faith and a lifestyle to weigh in on these questions. I want to be the very best atheist I can be.
I suppose a sufficiently seedy dive bar will have to do in a pinch. A drug house is a fine choice, but that's a bit more dangerous and they tend to get raided by police every so often. Jwfacts has got the right advice: hedonism is the key. Without a pesky diety to fear, you're free to drug/drink yourself into a stupor and engage in as many vices simultaneously as you can.
I know I can't feel good about myself if I haven't done my morning line of blow off of a hooker's a**, followed by a hearty round of cheers for Dawkins and Darwin, before I take my lunch of clubbed baby seal sandwiches. Mmmm! Delightful.
