Just be glad you're in Germany. Ever since Dubya got into the White House, he and his Fundie friends have been trying to rule the country with a Bible. It's been turning everything to crap, which is what happens when Church can influence State.

Christian Principles Applied On a National Level
by GermanXJW ini just found this thread on channel c:i think a big problem for christians is in trying to decide how jesus' principles can be applied on a national level.
unfortunately, the early christians had no idea that christians would ever be involved in government.
(i'm not sure whether they would have though it a good thing or a bad thing--they just didn't anticipate it.).

If someone says they worship Satan
by free2beme indo you think they are doing this because they truly love the satan character and want to please him or do you think they do it for complete shock value.
to basically do something that makes what is defined as good in society (christian religion) angry that someone would do something so wrong.
personally, i do not think there is one satanist out their who truly thinks that they are worshiping a being that is real, or actually something that could benefit from their worship.

I used to know a Satanist back in high school. She wasn't creepy or anything, just a condescending overachiever. Still a cool person though. She would try to read to me from the Satanic Verses, and I would be like, "NOOOOOO!! Get that evil away from me!!"

Are JW's cold people?
by JH in.
in all the years i attended meetings, i don't recall seeing anyone kiss anyone there....... all i saw were handshakes.. not even any hugs.. i thought of this a few days ago, when my cousin came over to visit my old parents, and when he left, he gave a warm handshake and slight hug to my dad and hugged and kissed my mom on each cheek.. you don't see this at the kh.

I think it depends on their general cultural background in the UK they tend to be cold but in some other countries they may be warmer, the JWs don't change that much from their native culture.
That's what I figured. If you travel south from where I live, you will come to a community called Bonita, which is wealthy. My sister has a friend who grew up in that congregation. From the friend's description, it seemed a very cold, stuffy, and aloof congregation.

how many of you have armed themselves?
by buffalosrfree ini recently bought a high powered rifle and am presently buying a pistol for back-up.
i have a cross bow, a compound bow, and several swords and knives, in fact i have been collecting knives for some time and have learned how to use them in defending myself and in taking the initiative in learning to defend myself.
i am quite versed in using both the croww bow and the compound bow, it seems the goverment doesn't want to defend us and just wants to unarm us.

Ok, so I gather that Mr. Paranoid Survivalist represents the minority amongst gun owners, but he'll get more attention because he conforms to the stereotype. I understand now.
You'll have to excuse my ignorance in the area of gun ownership as I live in what Justice-One would call a "socialist paradise," a haven for pinko-commie-liberals, aka socal.

I think I see the spin. In the old statement, over 300,000 field ministers is implied for the three countries. Now all three countries have over 600,000. The total has roughly doubled in 18 years, but to the casual reader, it looks like 6 times the growth. Verrrry tricky. Some outstanding growth, eh?

Most gun owners DO NOT fit that stereotype.
Warlock
Is it okay if I imagine that they do?? But seriously, folks, no one's like that around here?

Ok, I got a question for all you cats who arm yourselves to the teeth. How fair is it to assume that someone like yourself will exemplify the complete stereotype of a paranoid survivalist? For instance, do you dress in fatigues for no good reason? Mutter about conspiracy theories, pinkos, liberals, illegals, etc.? Do you have tapes of the Kennedy Assassination, or posters of paramilitary groups?
Think Herman from The Simpsons.

Had dinner with some worldly friends, WTBTS is full of it
by thecarpenter injust had dinner with some worldly friends and relatives and what a great time i had.
it was sobering to think that i cut them out for so long and yet they are such nice people.
we were conditioned to believe that they were bad influences and were demon possessed but actually are quite decent and church going people with real strengths and weaknesses like everyone else.

Absolutely, man. Anybody who has an above-average capacity for thinking, I hang on to him/her. There's just no joy in, like you said, conversing in a perfunctory manner with people you couldn't really talk to.
