by highdose ini got an email from a jw relative.
they reckon that they have read a indepth report about the us oil spill and according to that.. the oil spill is too big to be plugged.. its going to posion all the earths oceans.. which means they won't be able to produce o2.. which means that all life on earth is going to die.... which is a fullfillment of the scripture " unless those days were cut short no flesh would be saved".
which means... duh duh duh!

Where did 607 come from?
by MrFreeze inokay so we've obviously established on this board that 607 is not the correct date that babylon destroyed jerusalem.
even before 1914 came around, the bible students still thought 1914 would be a pivital date.
the only way they can gain that info is from the 7 times or w/e.

Apart from Jehovah's Witnesses and their Apologists there remains the most Supreme supporter of 607 BCE for the Fall and that is no less than the Great Chronologist and Timekeeper, Jehovah God
Come on, that is a really bad answer. There is not one shred of proof or evidence that suggests that 'Jehovah God' supports 607BCE. Tough to take any answers seriously if the best answer to my questions is this.
My questions stand:
Where else, other than the literature from the WTBTS or literature from JW apologists is it suggested that 607 (or any other date) is correct? The Bible DOES NOT say anything about ANY date and at best, it appears to point to the dates used by the world over. I again emphasize, I would love nothing more than to see the 'world proved wrong' but that proof has not been forthcoming.

Perhaps this has been asked elsewhere (as a matter of fact I believe it has), but it is worth asking again - Outside the Jehovah's Witnesses (or their apologists), are there any historians, archealogists, religious leaders or ANYONE who says: 1) 607 is the correct date and/or 2) The actual date is something other than the commonly accepted date of 587 (+/- a few years)?
I love great conspiracy theories and would LOVE for centuries of claims re: 587 be shown, to a high degree of certainty with sufficient evidence, to be incorrect. Just imagine how it must have felt when people first started realizing that the Earth was not the center of the universe, or that it wasnt flat.
However, no one seems to have been able to step up and show 587 (+/- a few years) to be incorrect. I am open to REAL evidence and clearly produced reasoning on the matter. It'd be great to see all the history books and encyclopedias have to be re-written just for the sake of advancing knowledge, yet this seems unlikely to happen in the light of the mountains of evidence suggesting that historians have it correct. It appears as though EVEN THE BIBLE supports the historians claims (if I read things correctly).

I wish I had my copy of the court documents on hand, but perhaps it is time to start posting the relevant portions of those documents here (posting images of the documents, not transcribing them). Perhaps it is around those that a discussion could be had and AIW could chime in why or why not such documents indicate foul play on the part of the WTBTS.
