  Kingdom Hall Experiences

  what things happened at your meetings that annoyed you?.

  There was one very nutty extra-disfunctional family, the Nelson's that were in our Book Study. My Dad used to be the conductor and the Nelson Dad used to be super stressed whenever his crazy kids acted up....which was often. One night he just sat there getting redder and redder in the face while his kid across the room was acting up. He had these viens in his head that gat bigger and bigger.

  Me and my two brothers just laughed at this jerk every time we saw him....but that night he really snapped and jumped upt dragged his 5 year old son up and out the basement door of our house and just started wailing on this poor kid until my Dad actually stopped the Book Study and went outside to make sure he didn't kill the kid. I don't know if there was any blood but this fool moved shortly after with his brainless ugly blond wife and there 3 poor kids.

  Thankfully there weren't many incidents like that....the guy was a total Nut!!!

  Visiting New York Bethel

  my jw kids have been invited to visit the brooklyn bethel....during the grand wazzooo annual meeting this oct. i am a df'd dad living away from them for almost a year now...hardly any contact with them.

  what can i do to prepare them and help them see the light?

  any suggestions???

  Remember when KH's had a piano and real singing?

  the thread about got me thinking about my very early childhood, back when witnesses were allowed to be social and have get togethers.

  they also had a piano in every congregation i ever attended, and an older sister would always play the kingdom melody.

  there was actual singing - not mindless droning and humming.

  I remember having to 'fill in' for one of the old sisters. It was against my better judgemnet as I am merely a Jazz and Blues player. I play almost everything in the key of C [ if it was good emough for Count Basie it's good enough for me] so I had to transpose some of the songs to play in C. The funniest thing was hearing the congregation screeching up to some impossibly high notes and then droning own to some sub-base notes........needless to say I didn't get asked to fill in anytime angain soon after that.

  hi, i have been posting for a while now but haven't shared my story, and feel it would be theraputic to do so now.

  my family is also on the site, although they dont post, just read.. i grew up a jw.

  my parents were baptized when i was just a toddler...they were brought in by the only jw members of my dads side of the family.

  Thanks for telling your story. It is very, very similar situation to my own except that I would fit the role of your Dad. I was DF'd last year and only have one of three JW employees left in my business. I has taken a toll on my business and I'm very worried about it.

  I too went to an appeal etc....and it was the worst thing that I ever did in my life....I regret appealing very much. Hope it all works out for you.

  do you think the wt has become more lenient or stricter over the year?.

  i am 21 and i remember just 4 years ago going to college was looked at as something negative.

  girls my age, we had plans to be ft pioneers and become secretaries.

  really hated the following:

  Having to get a haircut in the early 70's when all my 15 and 16 year old classmates had hair down to their shoulders

  calling on doors in the fs and being forced to go with this old Polish brother who harldly spoke english........his mo was to say hello and then when the door was being closed on him he would actually stick his foot in it and then try to argue with the householder.

  having to call on doors as a teen ager in the neighbourhood that you know was full of your classmates and then when you said that you would not do a particular house because you knew that one of your classmates lived there being to made feel bad, by one of the elders, for not giving a thourough witness F**K this S**T!!!!

  later on in life going to the bathroom during the public talk to underline the WT so it looked like you studied....tis could be done in 3 minutes flat.......good for maintaining your stus as a goo ms that i was.

  going through 'bethel' in new york in the ealry 1970's and being told by my aunt that i'd have to get a haircut before touring the bethel so as not to stumble any of the robots working there....[my hair at the time was barely over my ears and touching my collar a real no no!!!!]

  not being able to listen to rock!!! we did it anyway

  drinking to much as a teenager

  going back to school after Xmas........and getting bugged by many kids that you were a 'jehovah!'

  not going to college or university because of some holier than thou pricks in new york

  just my 2 bitz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! K
