How about my friend who had some CD that would just play by itself and make the CD door open and shut by itself? I can't remember the group, unfortunately, but boy was she scared of that!!!

Albums, Tapes, or Videos You Had to Throw Away?
by WTWizard inthere are so many songs that the watchtower society says are "bad".
they are the ones that hint on sexual immorality, violence, drugs, or that have reference to devil worship.
or the ones that have swearing in them, which seems to be common these days.. what really gets me is how they find such petty things wrong with songs that they basically want to clean out your whole library and make you listen to kingdumb s*** all the time.

Is shunning scriptural? At all?
by Open mind init's obvious that the jw view of shunning goes way beyond anything called for in the bible.
1 cor 5:11-13 says,(nwt) "but now i am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.
for what do i have to do with judging those outside?

Did Jesus shun Peter, after he declared he never knew Christ? Oops... Nope....

Do you get "tired" of "Apostates/ex-jws" bashing the WT to you?
by booker-t ini know it is good to let out pent up anger for healing purposes, but do you ever get tired of some "apostates or ex-jws" constantly bashing the wt?
for instance when you or having lunch and all they do is say "the evil wt this the evil wt that" during the whole time you are at lunch?
sometimes i just don't feel like hearing it especially when i am at an event for fun.

I'm with Mouthy (I like this lady, I can tell...)
Yes, I do seem to spend more time than I would like to 'bashing' the JWs. I think (as posted already) it is part of a healing process... I was taught a lie for so many years, when all this evidence was sitting right in front of me, but I was frightened into not looking. I'm angry. I'm hurt. And I spent so many years teaching people a wrong.... (pioneered most of my life), that I feel like I need to make some recompense. As people, many of them are nice. As an organization.... that's another story. Those 'nice people' need to be rescued. The good old-fashioned illustration we learned as JWs still fits - if you saw someone's house burning down, wouldn't you drag them outside by any means possible? -

i saw your email address on the post about the arson at your church.
i was wondering if you could answer some questions about your church?

And her official shut down:
If you really want to know those answers, then go back to the Kingdom Hall you walked away from. Since you can no longer be civil, and since you seem to be unable to get the point, I will block your email address.
Insulting me, or attempting to weaken my faith will not work. I KNOW Jehovah is God, and I KNOW that Jesus is the Son of God, and I KNOW that the bible is the Word of God, and I KNOW that the New World Translation is the best translation.
You're the one with the questions. You're the one posing as someone who doesn't know better, thinking I'm not aware of who you are. I'm not interested in conversing with someone who cannot answer any of MY questions, but thinks that to bait me, or insult me will entice me to answer yours.

One more try:
So.. you are unable to answer these questions from the Bible? Is that because you are weak in your own faith, or you do not think it is important to share your knowledge with everyone, even with those of us who are a part of the Christian church? With whom would you share your knowledge?

And now she shuts down:
I wish you the best, but I will not answer your questions. If you're serious abuot finding them then either start a study with the witnesses or seek Jehovah, and if your heart is pure, He may decide to open your heart up to understanding. But I will not answer your questions for reasons already given numerous times. Repetition of your question is not going to change that.

I will try those steps – the website sounds OK. Will they send someone to my house though? I’m just not to into that. These days, who knows about strangers coming to your house? How would I know that they were safe? Are your members screened before they are allowed out? Do you run police background checks and such? Our church requires background checks before people can volunteer, especially if they are going to be around children (my house is full of them!!!). I don’t want just anybody in my home. I’m sure you are the same if you are a mother.
Why can you not answer my questions? They are pretty straightforward. These days most things are done online. The Mormons even have an online chat site where you can ask one of their ministers direct questions.
Why would I have been disfellowshipped?

Now she's scared:
I cannot answer your questions. Not if I want to do them justice. However, if you go to your local Kingdom Hall, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to set you up with someone. Or, if you live within the US, you can submit the form on the website. Go to http://www.watchtower.org and click on the CONTACT US link located in the browse box. Fill out your name and address and phone number and someone close to you will contact you.
Have you been disfellowshipped?

So, let's see if she will actually get around to answering a question from the Bible?
Well, of course. As I told you – I do spend quite a bit of time in Bible study. However, it is at odd hours, due to my schedule. I don’t know if you work outside the home, or have children? But those things together make for a busy schedule!!!!!
I will try to locate one of these Witnesses – they don’t seem to catch me at my house, maybe because I am rarely home? LOL – I bet that is the normal thing they find these days. With our economy, who has time to be home?
Again, I have heard that Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t believe they are born again? On their website (http://www.watchtower.org/e/jt/index.htm) – it reads: “The 144,000 are born again as spiritual sons of God” - but you can’t possibly think that only 144,000 of you are the only ones pleasing God?
John 3:3 in my Bible, reads: “In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
Galatians 4:4-6 reads: 4But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. 6Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba,[a] Father."”
We need to be born again, or spirit anointed to please God. Romans 8:8,9 reads: “8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. 9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.” Even King David was adopted as God’s son in order to receive God’s spirit. Psalm 89:20 - “20 I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him. 26 He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.' 27 I will also appoint him my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth” We cannot be led by God’s spirit unless we are adopted as sons of God:
Romans 8:14 – “14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
John 1:12 tells me that I am a child of God, as long as I believe in his name: “12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—“
None of these scriptures mentioned a number…. And there are far more than 144,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses, so how do you know which of you are saved?

To which she replies with sarcasm: (note the JW tendence to ignore the elephant in the room):
Oh how WONDERFUL! You DO have time for study! Then you'll be able to contact your local Witnesses and do a study, please let me know how that goes!
