circuit ass-embly
by bonnzo injust a few notes.
the entire ass-embly was dealing with materialism or higher education; apparantly one leads to the other.
why cant the wts realize that higher education is not just a means to get rich or ahead in this system, but a means to have a career outside of janitorial work?

What incident marked you most as a JW?
by JH ini remember once in the field service, a ms of about 70 years old, former elder, was in the field service with a brother and he drove him straight home even before going out in the field service.
he had an argument with that brother in the car and i don't know exactly what it was about, but i know that this brother placed lots of importance in jesus unlike most jw's and i think this brother was talking too much about jesus door to door, and this old ms knew about this and told him off, but this brother didn't want to change his style, so he was driven straight home.. gee, i found that childish.. this jw that was driven home, belonged to another religion prior, and he never did accept to put jesus on the back burner.
i wonder why he became a jw?

JW husband very sad
by Rebirth ini have been out of jws for about three years, husband still goes and brings out two young girls.
he has been really withdrawn lately, eating less, not interested in sex.
i thought he was moping because i recently had a birthday party for our young daughter and because of halloween activities.

I feel really bad for you in this tough situation. I get the impression that you love your husband and want to lead a normal happy life with him. So, in my opinion you need to focus on that. Really impress on him that you want a united family. Discourage him from seeking advice from anyone who is negative and speaks badly about you (You know how JW's can be). Try to get him to focus on the here and know and let the future take care of itself. As for FS and the kids, as Pope said you may need to compromise in some way. I really don't think the kids are in any real danger. The once a month thing sounds reasonable to me. Remember, "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". I wish you the best, and above all a happy family.

the da vinci code
by Sam87 inok i havnt seen the movie or read the book yet but im going to watch it tonight, i was having a discussion with my girlfriends sister about the movie, and she is under the impression that some of it is real, for example jesus getting married and having offspring.. from what i can gather she is coming to this conclusion because da vinci painted a picture of the last supper and it has hidden messages in it.
but she seems to beleive its true?!
what does one persons paintings have to do with whether jesus was married?

Movie was good, book was better. Pure fantasy with a historical background. Dan Brown's: Angels and Demons was better though.

New here!
by gypsytart ini've been 'lurking' on this discussion board for ages, but not posted until now - finally thought i'd go for it and post something myself!
i've chosen gypsy tart as my alias not because i'm a gypsy (i'm not), or a tart (not all the time lol) but because i love gypsy tart it's my v favourite pud ever!
i did think of calling myself 'hovisbiscuit' because that's what the other kids at school would call me (along with 'oh look it's a hova') whilst they all filed into assembly.

Welcome Gypsytart! That is a really cool name!
Don't worry about getting old. Enjoy each day and each stage of your life for what it brings. Don't end up like my mom who, though she is relatively healthy and still beautiful at 82, thinks she is ugly and hates every moment of her life because she never counted on getting old in this system of things. She simlply cannot wrap her brain around still being on his side at 82. Belive me, it's no way to live.

I'm a little confused about this forum
by gordon d ini know that i'm new here...and maybe this topic has already been covered.
i keep reading posts from members that make referrence to going to a meeting or going out in service..... holy crap?!?!?
what percentage of the people here still actually consider themselves as witnesses?????

Welcome Gordon! You asked a valid question. I noticed also that you read with understanding the explinations given by some here. I commend you for being open minded and willing to see a different point of view. We all have our own story to tell and we all have different ways of dealing with our situations and this forum gives us the support of not being alone and an avenue for expressing ourselves.
I for one am "actively fading". Since discovering the UN fiasco I have not been in field service but I attend most meetings because of family. If I DA or am DF'd I have too much to loose. So I am trying to slowly drift away. However, I draw the line at helping others to become JW's so that is why I do not go in FS.
Thank you for understanding us. And again, welcome.

My letter to the "Glorious Ones."...
by Justice-One ini thought you guys might get a hoot out of this letter that i just mailed..... dear elders (or should i call you glorious ones?).
you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all the people all the time.
and you certainly do not have me fooled anymore.

I think it's really sad that some people equate not agreeing with the WT to not having any class or dignity. It gives those of us who just want to slip away quietly and mind our own business a bad name.
We are all free to do what we please, but considering the "big picture" before we do something is an act of maturity. Maybe we will all grow up someday.
