The darkened companion
by free2beme ini was sitting at my chair, quiet and not speaking, just like my mother had always told me to behave at the meetings.
the speaker was talking about times past, and promised futures, and we followed along periodically with references looked up in our bibles.
the sound of pages being shuffled through, filled the air at times and you could also hear people whispering silent comments in the distance.

Let's Give AudeSapere a Great Big Hug
by FreeChick inas many of you know, audesapere (denise) had reconstructive knee surgery last wednesday.
the surgery ended up being quite a bit more involved then she originally anticipated.
she has approximately 5 more weeks walking with crutches and then i believe she will continue with physical therapy.. denise made it through the first several days post-op like a trooper!

Will the change to the Watchtower be followed by a change to the meetings?
by yaddayadda ini expect that a significant change to the meetings is on the horizon, most probably in the form of a shift of the bookstudy from a weeknight to a condensed saturday morning version.
some congregations already hold bookstudy groups on saturday mornings.
a universal change to this for the whole organisation make senses as it would help resolve a number of growing problems for the society, specifically, meeting attendance is clearly diminishing at the rate of knots in the western world, many elders are burning out and resigning because they cannot cope with all the pressure heaped up on them that so many meetings in no small measure contributes towards, and magazine 'sales' are apparently down and such a change would work in very well with the upcoming new change to the watchtower magazine in january 2008. .

I agree that a change is necessary and called for but I don't see them altering the meetings too much. They've made too big a deal all these years of our "needing" all these meetings, that to cut any on of them out would be like "losing face" We all know the Society doesn't do that.

Fun at the book study
by Zico ini know what you're thinking.
how can you possibly have fun at the book study?
well, it's easy to have fun with the revelation book, it's so full of forced interpretations and massive holes, you can just rip it apart (subtly, of course) it's also much easier to question things in a smaller group.

This Greber 'coverup' is disgusting, Isn't it?
by AK - Jeff ini had proven to myself, with help from ray franz and others, that the 'truth' was not the 'truth' about three years back - so in most cases i have paid little attention to further proof.
once proven, always proven, right?.
then this week, i began to do a little research into the greber thing - i typed in greber watchtower to my google seach.. 465 hits - and started to read a few of the websites.

You're young. You need your family. Keep the peace but keep an open mind. When you are old enough and able to live on your own, do as you wish. By being respectful now you may gain the respect of your family later on when all is said and done.

You need the job so for the meantime grin and bear it. However, maybe you could be on the lookout for a new one? Working for someone you do not respect will get old after a while.
On the other hand, if the job is that good and you enjoy what you do, just try to remember that you do not have to share your bosses ideology. Maybe, in a tactful manner you could also convey this to your clients.
