  I knew a sister with an unbelieving mate how regularly attended meetings with her, had studied off and on,counted many witnesses as his friends, lived a clean, moral life, etc. but would never become a publisher or get baptized. Their son was a gifted athlete and Dad made sure he participated in team sports. The elders actually went to their home to meet with him and try to get him to see the "evil" of team sports. He did not back down and the boy continued to play.

  To this day I believe he never got baptized because he knew he would have to make his children give up things he knew were in no way wrong.

  What's the most stupid comment a JW told you?

  i remember when i was new in the "troof", i was walking in a mall and a jw window washer saw me, and asked, "what are you doing here"?.

  yeah, he had a good reason to be at the mall, cause he was washing windows, but i had no business there.... i guess he thought that i was being seduced by material stuff.... and i was stupid enough, not to tell him, mind your own business fu**er....

  The day after 9/11 a pioneer I worked with came in the office with a huge smile on her face and said: "Isn't it exiting!!! The end must be near", I looked at a man we worked with that was standing nearby glareing at us and felt like I could crawl into a whole.

  I just need to say anything

  last thursday i left a mail at the mailbox of the co of the cong i atleast untill now still attend.

  the mail concerned the child abuse issue, quoted the nytimes article alleging 24k recorded abusers, child abuse policy & some other things child abuse things that elude my mind.

  today at the weekly watchtower brainwashing.

  basd on my comment to another post titled "1979," i thought that this would make an interesting separate topic.. a little history: many here are aware that i was an ms and then elder and of the anointed while a jw.

  i openly professed anointing for 20-years of the 27-years i was associated with the watchtower.

  since that time, i have totally and completely renounced all but one watchtower doctrine.

  Amazing: While you were in "good standing", did you ever get "inspiration"? Did you feel compeled to communicate your "inspiration" to the GB? Did your thoughts appear in the literatue? Was there back and forth communication between you and other members of the FDS and were you of the same mind?

  These are things my parents have always belived and raised me to believe as well. Can you enlighten me?

  i can put up with a lot of things.

  but i avoid people who are "users".

  you know the type....always taking, never giving, always looking to take advantage of someone......and i don't like liars all that much either.

  i just could not believe it when i stumbled across this forum recently.

  i was actually doing research for my dad who wanted to see the world's viewpoint of the failed 1975 prophecy.

  he came into the truth less than three years ago and though my mom has been a witness since she was a teenager she never spoke of that particular time period to him.

  i was an elder and had just left bethel.

  i didn't want to believe what i was reading especially from current and former elders.

  I looked at this site briefly over a year ago. I felt guilty and "unclean". I begged Jehovah for forgivness. Then, last summer, I started looking at "apostate" sites again and came back here. I hit on a thread that spoke of the UN scandal. I thought: "No way". I went to the UN's site and saw the letter. I scoured the UN's site, read the Charter and read and re-read the conditions for associating with DPI. At some point, felt I had trully come to a turning point in my life, and though I was all alone, I said out loud: "It's over".

  Is the shunning over???

  my sister (e) has been shunning me for 5 years this past november.

  it all started when i began to have doubts and she tried to "reason" with me from the scriptures.

  but all that would end up happening is that i would make her have doubts (hmmmm, wonder why).. anyway, i felt a great loss when she stopped talking to me.

  I'm so happy for you. It's great thet you had the courage to say 'I'm sorry' first. That in itself should speak volumes Forget about planting doubt. Just enjoy your new found closeness with your sister and let the rest happen naturally. Don't risk losing her again.

  Another thought: if she does blow your cover, I would imagine she would be furious. She may even go to the elders and say you are "endengering" her spirituality. This could led to her leaving you and feeling justified for it. Is that what you want? Please look at all the angles and count the cost before you proceed.
