How's your recovery from the WTS coming along?
by Frannie Banannie ini came on this forum a few years ago, already hyped up from online xjw chat groups and the h2o forum and raring to kick some jdubya butt.
then i began to calm down and i began to reach out to the newbies coming to this forum, helping (hopefully) where i could.
after a while the subject of jdubya-ism began to sour on my brain and i began absenteeism from jwd at times, but i always come back.

It's still pretty raw for me. I'm still fading. I have to do it more slowly then I'd like and that is frustrating. Coming here helps me to vent but it also keeps the wounds fresh.

Husband to give wife's funeral talk
by ThomasCovenant ina local elder is to give the talk next week at his own wife's upcoming funeral at the kingdom hall.
i've been told he seems as happy as can be.
she died from cancer and leaves behind 6 grown up children, youngest a teenager about 16 i think.. could someone please point me in the direction of the funeral talk outline?

Eulogies are a no-no. I think it's wierd that the husband is giving the talk, but if he deviates from the norm and does eulogize his wife I personally would find it refreshing.

For anyone struggling to free themselves or loved ones from the Watchtower.
by nicolaou ini just wanted to share an encouraging thought with anyone who is struggling to fade away from the watchtower.
six years ago, when i first started posting here, i was a ministerial servant with doubts.
my wife was an active sister and my 11 and 12 year old sons were enrolled in the theocratic ministry school and going out in field service every week along with their 7 year old sister.. there has been a lot of stress and tears along the way, my wife and i often wondered what our future would bring, but i can honestly say that we have made it.

to join or not
by dontknow ini've had in the past studied a little about the bible with jws but have yet decided to be baptised.. i've just read lavenders' moving letter to her son and her love and well being for him is very obvious.
i do like the bible teachings very much and to this day i'm very interested in the end of the system of things which will very soon come to fruition; i'm a very strong believer, however i must stipulate to all, in retrospect i'm not sinless.
one of the posters says that jw's ask you to do a liitle bible study with them, attend one of their meetings and when you get baptised you have to do exactly what you are instructed or else.

Welcome!.
I was raised a witness, baptized in 1969 (at age 10) and am now trying to gracefully fade out. Why? Because I've seen too much. Too many inconsistent teachings and changes. Too many dogmatic unwritten rules. Too many judgemental attitudes.Too much hypocrisy.
When you study with JW's you learn the basic teachings: no Trinity, no immortal soul, no hellfire, 144,000 annointed ones going to heaven, earthly paradise for the rest, Armaggeddon,,, That is not the whole ball of wax. That is not the day to day life.
Did you know that if you were baptized and caught on this site you would risk being disfelloshipped? Do you think that's odd? If they have the "truth", they should not fear opposing views. Did you know that in Communist countries like Cuba and the former USSR all outside info was monitored and scrubbed by the state; that the media was controlled by the state; that if you were caught getting outside info from a non-santioned source you risked imprisonment or worse? Do you want to live like that? Think about this carefully, because if you become one of JW's your life will be controled and monitored in a very similar, though less obvious way.
Why am I carefully fading instead of simply having my name removed from the "roster" and moving on with my life? Because if I openly say I no longer want to be one of JW's I will most certainly be announced publicly as being Dissasociated or Disfellowshipped. Do you know what that means? My parents, my son, my daughter, my granddaughter, my aunt, my uncle, my cousins and their spouses and children, and virtually every friend I have ever had in 47 years of life will be torn from me. They will not be able to associate with or even speak to me lest they too would risk being disfellowshipped.
Again I ask you: do you want to live like that?

Help! My fade about to be blown by my wife's obituary
by lighthouse19something inmy wife of 27 years is about to pass away, she's requested do not revive or resuscitate, and she is no longer conscious.
her sister wants to put which church she's been attending in her obituary, i don't want to make things difficult for my jw mother, (she knows about our fade) by other jws.

I'm very sorry.
As the husband I would hope you have the first say as to what will be posted in the obituary.

You did the decent thing by not letting her walk home alone. You did nothing wrong. Tell your dad and tell your brother so the don't get blindsided by other elders. Explain that you were just being a gentleman but that next time you will just let her walk home.
