LOL when i saw the title i though it really WAS about dirty laundry!I'm such a sad housewife!Whenever i see a thread anywhere on chat sites etc re jws i always give my experiences and mention doctrine flip flops etc (but in a reasonable way of course), i think its so important to let people that may be interested in studying with them know what happens if they want to leave after baptism, and about all the cover ups and not thinking for themselves etc etc. If i had known any of this i really do think it would have put me off studying with them.

Dirty Laundry Poll
by Honesty indo you believe that the watchtower society's dirty laundry should be suppressed so that prospective converts to this group will not be able to see both sides of the story?
.
after all, will what they don't know about the watchtower society really harm them?.

I got a new job!!!
by PoppyR ini had to tell someone, surprisingly not one of my witness family were interested even though i am not dad or dfd.. i went for and got a promotion at work today, i worked hard at my interview and am delighted with my new position.
the only people that cared were my boyfriend and two very close friends i have made since leaving the org.
it leaves me tinged with sadness, but those are the breaks!.

that was interesting though i see the original jw hasn't answered back yet. Its true in a way though about witnesses being scared into denying blood etc because i've been there myself and i now realise i was more scared of the elders than God himself at the time!

A few questions for the Brits!
by smellsgood inso, have i heard right?
do you guys get free health, dental care?
including like, orthodontia, braces which cost roughly $5,000 w/o insurance in the americas, usually half with?

Hiya
I am entitled fo free NHS dental care and medical prescriptions for the next year as i am pregnant. Normally medical prescription as about £6-7 i think. I am under an NHS dentise though they are getting harder to find, but still have to pay quite a bit. Luckily i usually don't need anything other than a quick check up.
Some parts of the NHS are great, my son was 13wks early and was in hospital for 10wks at a cost to them of £1,000 a day. When he was a year old he was rushed to ITU in Bristol childrens hospital for several days, i can't fault the care and time spent on him, or me for that matter. However when it comes to certain operations or treatment there can be very long waiting times and care of older ones is not always great, i've seen that for myself.
Don't know about fees, i know someone who recently went to uni and as well as a loan she had to go to college and have three part time jobs to help pay the fees.
All i know about petrol is that it costs £25 to fill up my tiny Ford KA and over £40 to fill up hubbys diesel Ford Focus.
I dont like fast food chains prefer pea fritter and chips from the chipshop but am veggie so like fresh home cooked meals or a really nice restaurant (not often though unfortunately)
Can't stick the Beckhams make me feel ill and glad they've gone off, don't see what the fuss is about tbh.
I love the yankee accent.
I like british accents with no accent best if that makes sense, i haven't got much of one myself. I don't mean really posh like Prince Charles or the Queen but nice soft voice like Colin Firth(swoon) or the old stars like James Mason (double swoon) I love Ugly betty love american tv i like old ones like murder she wrote and columbo etc as well

hubby told jw mother i'm pregnant ....
by dobbie inso i'm 11wks pregnant (hooray!
) and hubby has been undecided whether to even bother telling his jw lot about it as they are shunning me (d'ad) and have hardly anything to do with him or kiddies.. anyway he was away yesterday and she rang him just to find out train times (only reason she ever rings cos she wants him to fiddle her cheap tickets), he said 'by the way youre gonna have another grandchild soon' what did she say was she pleased did she say congratulations?hell no!
"oh right" then silence, then "well i won't be allowed to see it anyway will i seen as d's d'ad herself".

Thanks for your comments, tbh they've never been interested in the kids, never bought them anything or taken them anywhere, but i was brought up in a totally different way to that so i find it hard to accept, Meanwhile all the dubbies will commisserate with them that she can't see her grandchildren cos their evil mummy d'ad herself! Its just hard when i see hubby get upset enough to cry over his own parent. Thank goodness this little one won't be dragged to boring meetings or people at the doors etc, or have any mind control put intohis/her head! Going to get up now and my my lads out to a kiddies place for the day and enjoy ourselves!!

Thanks guys, i know we are really happy at the thought of another little one, hopefully it'll be third time lucky and no problems this time round! This time i won't have to worry about blood issues or any of that stuff, and this baby will be nothing at all to do with the jws, i'm so glad we're out of it!
Leslie thanks for thst its comforting to know. The jws aren't totally shunning the kids though, in fact at school they deliberately walk up to me say hello to the children (which really annoys me cos my 2yr old doesnt have a clue who they are) and ignore me, i will say something soon if they keep it up as its pigging rude tbh!
Hi Es!How are you all doing, how are your gorgeous children?

how long will the sunday meetings be now?
by The Lone Ranger inmaybe this has being discussed already but i was thinking that now that the public talks will be 30mins instead of 45mins, and there is a new wt arrangement, it will stand to reason that the wt articles might be shorter, i can't see the sense of cutting the public talk and wt meeting for just 15 mins from 2 hours to 1.45hours, unless the wt articles will be shorter as well, and the whole sunday meeting will be cut by 30mins, to 1.5 hours.
any thoughts on this?.

I thought that maybe, seen as the study watchtower will be for their eyes only, they would use that extra 15 minutes for even more intense study of the watchtower article and tighten the control ever more...
