  Relieved or gutted, which are you?

  is finding out that jehovahs witnesses are not the truth a relief for you as you no longer have to go to meetings etc or does it make you gutted as there is no everlasting life and no new system?.

  i started of relieved , then gutted , and whent through cycles of both now i feel that it has to be relief.. though i will probably never get over the fact that for 26 years of my life everything i believed was wrong and i will allways have a small longing for that new world, but the relief that i can live my own life outweighs that.

  Personally, I felt absolutely gutted.
  For months after I realised it wasn't the truth I couldn't function properly, went into deep depression.

  My God, one minute I was going to live forever in paradise and the next I was facing certain death and a universe that was totally indifferent to our existence. Not only that but the mind boggling suffering in the world had no answer.

  I nearly cracked, crying myself to sleep every night for weeks.

  Then I got over it, sort of.

  I would give ANYTHING for the JW view of the future to be true.

  But it ain’t and that’s that.

  is it a new book?.

  No, it’s the new ‘LaLa (I’m not listening) musical fingers’

  Whenever a situation arises that might provoke questions or independent thought, JWs simply slip this over their ears, and apostates, dumbfounded by this weapon of ‘Truth’ simply give up and walk away.

  What a wonderful provision from the Faithful and Discrete Slave class this is brothers!

  jr brown stated, "it is possible out of the 77,799 elders in the usa that a few of them did not follow directions.".

  ain't that a shock, jr pinning on those damned untrained volunteers again?.

  I've been having email conversations with a good friend in Florida, who saw the show. She has nevr been a JW but is a devout Christian. (she takes care of my spiritual side!)

  Anyway, she picked up on this point too:

  As expected, Headquarters in New York would not personally respond but
  supplied a video recording of some fellow explaining, blah,blah blah, that
  they fully encourage parents to report abuse and if some of the 177,000
  elders (?not sure of exact number) had misunderstood those intentions,
  well....(Kinda reminds me of the expectation for Armageddon in 1975. They
  always make things look like the miscalculations of over zealous members.) I
  don't think everyone watching the program would be able to quite catch this
  evil manipulative ploy unless they have been exposed to it before - very
  insidious.

  BOWEN'S COMMON CAUSE

  i'm still thinking this through, so i invite differing perspectives from the board members.. if bill bowen's mission is to expose the wt policy on molestation, and hence by this exposure ellicit a favourable change to their paradigm, wouldnt he as a result be inadvertently " cleansing " the wt, making it " better " ?.

  this obviously being a fruitage of his works, and the fact that he has the unequivocal support of most xjw's ( like you fine folk ) wouldnt that mean that you guys would then be a part of that aforementioned work, that of improving the wt image and policy.. therefore the question is cloaked by a seeming contradiction in the form of a paradox, namely..... by supporting billy boy are you destroying the wt image or refurbing it ?.

  does god really work in such a mysterious way ?

  I think I see where you're coming from with this Bathory. You are saying that by cleaning up the WBTS we are helping it to survive? And yet, as it is our sworn enemy, we should be trying everything to bring it down?

  Well, I think the answer to your idea is 'yes', and you have made a valid point. By cleaning out the Society's problems we do help it to survive. But this is a matter of priorities. Therefore, and I think you make the point well, it is a very noble thing that Bowen and the others have done. What we can all see (except the WBTS) is that the TOP priority is to protect the children. All other priorities are rescinded in the face of this.

  But don’t worry, I’m sure the WBTS will eventually fade into history and be forgotten on the scrap heap of failed ideologies, and I think THEY will be the main catalyst in this, not us exjws; we can only help it along as best we can.

  well ok, "shunned" is really sister number 2, but peachypoof is sister number one, and the second of my sister to join the board.. she is about 18 months younger than me, and today joined us on the board.. i know when i was talking to her online, i was kinda choked up, that she was signing up with us here.

  these are moments that this brother, the real brother of these two sisters of mine will never forget!.
