  troubled by reports of the very problems that were supposed to be only the mark of false religions peadophilia (and hiding it) and hypocrisy (supporting the un) many honest hearted jws, it seems, have slowed down their meeting attendance and field ministry.

  what has the society done to calm these very real worries concerning actual, not imagined, problems.. .

  simple.

  Of course, persecution itself is not pleasant, but our standing firm despite persecution, including slanderous reports in the media, is a cause for rejoicing. It means we are pleasing Jehovah and will receive a reward.

  Now, if the media reports truly are SLANDER then why don't they take 'em to court? Hmm?

  And I certainly know what reward I'd like to give to men who protect pedophiles rather than children! Like you avengers, that last sentence really makes me wanna puke!

  Simple. They scream ALL LIES!!!

  We also need courage when opposers maneuver the media into spreading bad reports about God's servants or when they try to restrict true worship by 'scheming trouble by decree' (Psalm 94:20) For example, how should we feel when newspapers, radio, or television reports about Jehovahs Witnesses are distortions or outright falsehoods? Should we be shocked? No. We expect such things. (Psalm 109:2) And we are not surprised when some believe the published lies and distortions, since 'anyone inexperienced puts faith in every word' (Proverbs 14:15) Still, loyal Christians refuse to believe just any statement made about their brothers, and they certainly do not allow bad publicity to cause them to miss Christian meetings, to slow down in the field ministry, or to waver in their faith. On the contrary, they 'recommend [themselves] as Gods ministers'...

  i can't remember my password to my previous screename nor the email account i made for it, so i had to make a new one.

  How to develop our own personal beliefs and stands on issues that we were once told how to live according to is overwhelming at times.

  Interesting point.

  I remember that's what stood out for me when I left too. Sometimes life's issues can be so complex and as JWs we just weren't used to thinking about things and making up our own minds - we were lazy and let the organisation do all that for us.

  Then, suddenly, I was on my own and without a reference point for my beliefs.

  It took a long time to find out who I really was but it was worth it. Stick with it and best of luck!

  i've just been told that a po of a local congragation as well as being one of the anointed has been deleted of everything.

  this man gave talks at the coventions.

  was on stage at the assemblies to talk about how well he did with his family.

  From what I understood, if an annointed person was df'd they became part of the 'evil slave' in league with Satan.

  I never understood being annointed with God's spirit and being evil?

  Increase in the numbers of partakers is often said by the Society to be due to some annointed proving unfaithful so new ones are 'grafted onto the vine' to replace them. This surely means that, once lost, it's impossible to get your status back. I mean, if a new brother was anointed then God is hardly going to say 'oh, I'll have it back now 'cus bro Smith got reinstated, sorry'

  When it boils down to it why do I even bother trying to understand this balony?

  i don't know if this has been mentioned before, forgive me if it has.. i've heard a rumour from a reputable source that another bible drama video is to be released at the 2003 assembly.. the title is 'respecting jehovah's authority'.

  i don't know anything else at the minute but i can gusee from the title the general gist of it!

  howdy all,.

  has anyone noticed that some jws (prematurely) will run to debate the "trinity", "hell", "immortality of the soul", but they head for the hills when someone brings up the watchtower's present claims which are supposed to show why god approved and appointed them over all his belongings?

  i find that when jws do become unwittingly involved with such a discussion, they practice a method of bait and switch.

  Beware of 'organization.' It is wholly unnecessary.

  I totally agree. As soon as we commit to an organisation (any religious denomination) we compromise our loyalty to God.

  I think I understand your main premise - that JWs claim to have been approved by God on inspection in 1918 when in fact most of their beliefs of that time have been abandoned or changed - so why were they chosen?

  I wonder if a JW might answer by saying that at least the JWs were trying to find the truth?

  I have one question though, what was the Society saying about evolution before 1918?

  i am alone at home tonight.

  my wife and children are busy having dinner and 'spiritual association' with an elder and his wife.. i wasn't invited, even though i am not da or df, just inactive.

  and although i've made my position clear in that i'm not interested anymore i've never made any trouble really.. i didn't think it would hurt but it does.

  Actually, I regard the whole 'headship' thing as hopelessly archaic. I believe that a husband and wife should be equal partners.

  Hi Orangefatcat,

  I hear where you're coming from, it's SO tempting isn't it, to put one's foot down and make a stand as head of the house.

  I considered it but then I thought it would just come across as 'persecution' and would make matters worse. I'm in for the long haul, hoping that my wife will eventually contrast the Society's stereotype 'unbelieving mate' with the reality and start to think for herself.

  We can hope huh?
