OK, I've had a go at putting the figures into a graph, forgive me but my skills in Excell aren't too good yet.
This should show the trends for the last couple of years. This Jan is higher than the last two.
bad news for the uk, trend is up for publishers.
looks like the death of the wbts has been exaggerated.
shame..

Are you drinking?
Hi dungbeetle. I'll have a double whisky please.
Well, I agree yearly figures are more accurate, but we don't know what they will be for 2002 yet. All I'm saying is that the total number of reporting JWs is up from this time last year, therefore an increase. Maybe sleepy has a point and it was the mild weather but I think more likely it's Klaus' idea of the impact of the new 15 minute minimum reporting time.
Maybe I ought to collate the figures into a graph for the UK which will more easily show trends. Hmmmmm.

Well, I was really looking more at the total, which includes all catagories, and is about 4000 up over last January.
...and he's not very happy.
There's also a mouse in your thread...I like joelbear but hey, I'm not 'attracted' to him...I mean, I'm sure he's an OK guy but...did I mention I'm married?

i esp would like to thank simon for making this possible.
i sincerely believe that the "net thang" will continue to play a role in helping jw who are sincerely searching for a confirmation that all their doubts and wondering over the years was not the result of them being spiritually weak.
Seeya JT, Lady C, may all your endeavors meet with success.
Drop by the board from time to time and let us know how it's hangin' huh?
Kind regards,
Dean.
i've noticed in my congregation that attendance does not have the priority that it once did.
it seems like on any given theocratic ministry school meeting there will be at least one or two subsitutions.
some of the younger elders and ministerial servants tend to miss quite a few meetings and others have the habit of arriving 30 minutes after the meeting has started.
I think we might be in for a bit of a shock when the figures come out next year. I expect a decent increase in publisher figures.
Why?
Because of the new 15 minute minimum time limit for being counted as a publisher. This will bring a lot of elderly and sick publishers out of retirement - thus a temporary increase.
But it will only be temporary, they can only pull this stunt once and I don't think it will be enough to kick-start any sustained increase, other than in third world countries where most of the growth is anyway because they haven't got the Net yet.

Internet 'breaks up marriages'
By Nick Farrell [15-04-2002]One in 10 couples blame the net
Marriage guidance counselling organisation Relate is blaming the internet as "a significant factor" behind marriage break-ups.
Angela Sibson, Relate's chief executive, said the organisation has been flooded with couples who are suffering from internet-related problems. She said this is because the internet provides the opportunity to meet other people and easy access to pornography, which is a cause of friction in some relationships.
"One in 10 of the people who receive marriage guidance from Relate each year now blame the internet for their problems.
