August KM Scans -Now Available!

Thanks Stephanus. The August KM is the one about how to treat a disfellowshipped relative.
My Mother-in-law, who has just lost her husband, was hoping to have her grandson come and live with her to keep her company. The complication is is that he is difellowshipped. As the insert was discussed she was obviously upset, because this was three days before he was due to move in and she was torn by her loyalty to the Society and her loyalty to her family. In the end, the elders have told her to go ahead and accept her disfellowshipped grandson into her home, and carry on as if nothing has happened. My family who are still JWs have been told that the insert doesn't apply either to my DFd sister (who doesn't live with us) and we can still talk with her and go to her barbicues. In effect, the elders at my congregation have been instructing the brothers to IGNORE these instructions from the Society!
I see this happening more and more in the UK over various issues. Looks like folks are getting fed up with the Hitlers at the top and are not prepared to give absolute allegiance to the Demigods in Brooklyn.

Sorry kids, forget Harry Potter.

with many children waiting expectedly for the new harry potter film the society have issued a pre-emptive strike.. i feel so sorry for the poor jw kids who won't now be able to go and see the film.. from watchtower, october 15th 2002, page 11..

Thanx Comf, I know about the preview mode...I have no idea why the picture is showing like that, it's never done that before and it isn't like that on the original!
Actually, there is an elder in our congregation who loves Harry Potter. I know for a fact that he will totally ignore the Society's advice on this issue. I also know another elder who is the fanatical type aand who insists on not letting his children watch virtually anything (he wouldn't let them watch Casper - the friendly ghost, for example)
I don't suppose this article will make any difference in the long run, a lot of JWs are starting to ignore much of this nonsense anyway.
Another piece of evidence that the Society is losing its stranglehold on the lives of the brothers.

I agree Dragon, this is what I have experienced too. As long as you don't cause trouble and don't want to be veiwed as a JW they will, on the whole, leave you alone. I am in that position myself.
Of course, the world is full of vindictive elders on power trips and it is these people that will pursue ex JWs to the ends of the Earth. I guess there is no unity in this regard either, it's just a matter of luck - some elders are ok others are scum.

New Service available

from this week we will be making available scans of the kingdom ministries as they come, and also back issues.
each km will only be available for download for one week so that we can get as many out there as we can.

From this week we will be making available scans of the Kingdom Ministries as they come, and also back issues. Each KM will only be available for download for one week so that we can get as many out there as we can. Next week we will have the August KM 2002 and perhaps the week after the special Internet edition from Nov 1999. Then we will try and cover all the issues, one at a time, from January 2002 onwards.
