UK & IRELAND MAP
by ballistic ini had an idea that i could build a uk map of everyones location which would show you instantly who is in your area from jwd.. (it might be an idea to do a seperate us one aswell but i'll wait and see if this one takes off first, or if anyone from the us wants to volunteer to do that one).
(and australia but you are all in the same backyard anyway - literally!!!).
anyway, all you have to do is post or email me your username and town and i will draw you on the map above which will change gradually to include everyone!.

What does BJ stand for again? Oh yeah.
Now come on you doom sayers, are we gonna fry in a big war or is a comet the size of Your-anus going to do us all in...make up yer minds.
I read the bible once, it was boring, but better than Nostradamus, though I wouldn't trust either of 'em to give an accurate view of the future.
Now 'Old Moore's Almanac'...there's some dudes who really know what's happening.

I sympathise, I really do. The first week this site was up I was unable to post too, not even a reply or new topic.
It seems strange that you can post a new topic but no text appears. Are you actually logged on? (see box top left, which, for you, should say 'Welcome Flowerpower' )
I know it seems stupid, but when you first open the new topic box your curser for some reason goes into the subject box. You actually have to click in the large post box to place your curser there. Then type what you want to say.
Hope you get it sorted whatever the problem. If you want, email me your computer specs and problem and I'll post on your behalf in the technical section to see if Simon or other computer boffs have an answer.
Dean.

My first bike was a Suzuki GT185 which was a real nipper. Then I proceeded to have a Suzuki GS 750 which was awsome.
I've also had a Kawasaki Z1000, and 750, a Yammy 250 and Honda CBX550.
That was a long time ago. But like you I'm starting to get the urge again (at the age of 41) and am thinking of getting an old Suzuki 750.
I went to the bike show in Birmingham this year and most of the people there were my age or older. Seems like motorcycling has become more of an old man's hobby! (Young uns can't afford to buy and run 'em anymore).
dmouse, itching to get back on the road but has had credit card confiscated class.

Hiya Urpi!
Yes, the UN thing was a prime example of hypocrisy wasn't it?
Enjoy your stay here, and from now on don't take things too seriously.

Is everyone on this Web Board a Jehovah's Witness Basher?
by sandy ini grew up in the religion and was baptized at.............supposedly the most important day in our lives and i cannot remember how old i actually was, anyways...... i believe it was 13 or 14. i was never disfellowshipped.
i have a "worldly" boyfriend whom i love dearly, and i no longer attend the "meetings".
i do not disagree with the organization entirely; in fact i am not even sure if i disagree with it at all.

Hi Sandy.
May I add my welcome to that of the others?
I think an important distinction has been made about the difference between JWs and the WBTS. Personally, I think JWs in general are a great bunch of people (like many others) and I wouldn’t want to hurt them in any way (i.e. ‘bash’ them). I haven’t been hurt by any individual JW. However, I did wake up one day and realize that the JW religion is just that, another religion, with no more valid reason for claiming itself to be the ‘one and only truth’ than any other. They are wrong about so many things.
The rabid, screaming apostates depicted in the society’s literature are very rare, and the society harp on about them to put us in a bad light. In reality you will find the majority of us willing to engage calmly in a reasonable discussion across a broad range of subjects. Most of the exJWs I know are far more knowledgeable about the religion than those still in!
If you do decide to go back, then I wish you every happiness. But many, having tasted the freedom of being able to think for themselves and make their own decisions based upon a personal faith in God never want to put that straight-jacket back on again. As for myself, I no longer have any belief in a supernatural deity, but many who leave the JWs find themselves in a much deeper spiritual relationship with God than they could possibly have had as a JW, with it’s strong emphasis on being saved by works and intrusive micro-management of every facet of their life. Remember, the scripture did NOT say ‘where’ shall we go away to but ‘whom’ shall we go away to. Being a devout Christian does not necessarily entail being part of an organized religion.
By all means read the posts on this site and ask questions, But also check out other Christian perspectives on the bible and JW beliefs
Secular sites about cults and sects:
http://www.csj.org/studyindex/studycult/study_whatisdescult.htmOr non-Christian sites For example, this is a Muslim site about the beliefs of the JWs:
http://jamaat.net/comp/jw/jw.html
Whatever you decide, I wish you peace. -

Let me try again.. Just a lurker who is going "public". Saying "HI" What a
by Its so simple ini have been a jw for more than 10 years and less than 30. i'm not naive about the ways of the borg.
i was a hot shot jw at one time, one of the few that enjoyed 90% acceptance from my audience.
this is one of the things that has brought me some trouble.

Hi It's so simple, and welcome to the board.
A lot of your comments show that you and your wife are quite disillusioned with the Society, also your use of derogatory terms like 'the Borg' show a lack of respect for the Masters in Brooklyn. That is good, and shows you are capable of independent thought.
I am curious, can you elaborate please on this statement:
I'm quite content to sit quietly ( very hard for me ) on the sidelines and be a force for good in anyone's life that reaches 'the crossroads.'

What is your worst fear?
by Scully ina recent death in my family triggered my worst fear - as irrational as it may sound - into a very real possibility.. let me explain: as a global culture, we simply accept that when someone dies, those who care about them will want to gather and offer a meaningful tribute to the person and those who survive them.
with regard to my recently deceased family member - her own children decided against holding a memorial service for her surviving family, which included two children and their respective spouses, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
yes, we are spread out over 2000 miles.

My grandmother always used to say 'you don't know grief unless you've buried a child.' and I really believe that, I couldn't bear losing any of my three children, I would die myself.

OUIJA BOARDS
by Mary in.
has anyone here ever played with a ouija board?
if so, did anything weird happen?
-
dmouse
No.
But, many, many years ago, when I was at school, some of the 'bad' pupils were rumoured to have had a go. I heard that some tough girls were sent screaming from the room.
It's all rumour. It's all second hand information. Always.
In fact, It's all bollocks, just clever manipulation of impressionable minds. Just like the jw religion.
