Worship at the meetings(TM)....REALLY??
by punkofnice inthere were times when i was a jw that i asked myself :.
'what constitustes actual worship at the meetings?'.
it got to a point where the only worship i could see was a sycophantic arse licking of the governing body.. i found nothing at the meetings(tm) were actually anything like worshipping god.. .

Interesting moment on subway today & other thoughts
by sd-7 ini was heading home today, and i saw one woman reading a new world translation.
we made eye contact, but i hope i didn't glare at her or anything... since i was already having a bout with depression today, it didn't help to see her.
so then she gets off the train, right?

Thanks for posting this SD-7.
I always look at the Witnesess on the train rushing to underline and "study" the lesson form the WT/GB/FDS. It's sad. It's like the have some kind of pression to read the stupid material. They don't look Christian at all, just belonging to a crazy cult.

To those still "in" - how do you keep up a facade?
by magotan ini can't come out until the summertime.
in the mean time, i have to feign interest like i want to stay so i don't end up homeless.. .
i can't sit at the meetings without getting visibily irritated.

Is not easy to keep up a facade. Sometimes is just a plain-old-facade.

Thanks for posting this Punk.
This is a point I keep thinking myself.
Worship from Wikipedia: "Worship is an act of religious devotion usually directed towards a deity. The word is derived from the Old English worthscipe, meaning worthiness or worth-ship — to give, at its simplest, worth to something.[1]".
And from merriam-webster.com: "reverence offered a divine being or supernatural power"
I don't see none of that at the meeting. Just teaching, teaching and teaching how to behave, what to do and what not to do. Prayers are full of words towards the WT/FDS/GB. "Thanks for the GB", WTF is that?? How about Jesus??
Also, the prayers that the brothers offer are in no way a worship to Jehovah. See, that it suppose to be a moment of bond with the Creator, but if you start to actually pay attention to what they pray about, is the freaking same thing over and over again, just with different word.
That's a cult-worship-meeting going on in WTland.

Jesus belongings
by label licker inwhat are the belongings that jesus comes back for.
apparently, we were told by one of the elders at bethel who was at the annual meeting in october that the organisation was still not too sure on what those belongings are and that it would be public down the road in their publications.
they figure it would come out in the april watchtower.

This believes is so ridiculous that they have Jesus "coming" and leaving at least three times:
1- He came, and left on 33 AD
2- He came again in 1919, and left the WT/GB/FDS supposedly in charge
3- He comes again soon.

Jesus ain't coming back for anything people. get over the fact that Matthew 24:47 and on is a parable, not a prophecy like the WT/GB/FDS wants people to believe.

I think is pretty much like they do in the congo: A combination of needing somebody to help with the crap and being likeable to enough to get the votes. Go figure...

Is the Truth so delicate?
by Socrateswannabe inthe gb brooks no questions or dissention.
their brand of truth seems quite delicate and incapable of standing up to scrutiny.
"the truth is incontrovertible.

Thanks Apognophos.
Instead of "lying" or giving false information to "somebody" not entitle, how about just saying: "It's not your business and I ain't talking" like Jesus did so many times?
But no, is bad to lie, but when you do, do it JW-style: lie to the person that is not entitled to know. But it is still a lie!!!!

Every lie is an untruth, but not every untruth is a lie. Why not? A dictionary defines a lie as “an assertion of something known or believed by the speaker to be untrue with intent to deceive.”
Untrue, 'UN".
I don't know what part of "UN" the GB/FDS/WT doesn't get. Double standard at it best!
