  Interesting quotes from the Feb 15th Watchtower (it's not a cult at all, honest!)...

  well it's the 15th today, so i thought i'd check to see whether the feb 15th watchtower has been uploaded yet... and sure enough it has.. here is the link to the pdf.... http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/5a/w_e_20130215.pdf.

  i've breezed through it and noticed that it is littered with odd stuff that would scream "cult!

  " to an outsider, but which your average indoctrinated jw will just lap up as always.. here is my pick of the quotes.... the first article, entitled "this is our spiritual heritage" gives a very flattering whistle-stop tour of the history of god's organization - from abraham to tynedale to rutherford (bypassing russell altogether) before explaining that nothing will ever thwart jehovah's purposes.

  They are obsess with God's name. Even they say nobody knows how to pronounce God's name. So, if it were so important, don't you think He would have make sure to preserve its pronunciation?

  Confused about Satan's plan according to WTS

  my rudimentary understanding of jw beliefs is that satan is leading traditional christian religions and the wild beast of the un is his tool.

  is the wts concept that the un will eventually ban all religion and this will start the big a?

  wouldn't satan be working at cross purposes if 'he' is leading the false religions too??

  Good question. Jesus asked the same question:

  Mark 3:23

  And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.

  I liked what you did putting those two verses together. Luke 10:17 and Revelation 12:7. In Luke Jesus talk about a "fall", "serpents" and "scorpions", in Revelation, it talks aout "serpents", a "fall" and other angels, could they be "scorpions"? "serpents" related?

  I think 1914 as the date of Satan fall to earth is out of the question. You arrive at 1914 through Daniel's big tree, which only applies to Nabo, not Jehovah's Kingdom. Plus, in Matthew 28:19,20 Jesus said that he received all power on earth and heaven right after resurrection.

  WT Propaganda Techniques

  i recently came across some quotes in the february 1, 1952 watchtower.

  granted, that's a long time ago, but i think it illustrates the propaganda techniques the organization still uses.. "we should meekly go along with the lord's theocratic organization and wait for further clarification, rather than balk at the first mention of a thought unpalatable to us and proceed to quibble and mouth our criticisms and opinions as though they were worth more than the slave's provision of spiritual food.

  theocratic ones will appreciate the lord's visible organization and not be so foolish as to pit against jehovah's channel their own human reasoning and sentiment and personal feelings... after being nourished to our present spiritual health and maturity, do we suddenly become smarter than our former provider and forsake the enlightening guidance of the organization that mothered us?

  So, they are saying that because the apostles helped Jesus feed a multitude, the FDS/GB/WT gets to feed the Witnesess nowdays? So, are we going to starts drawing a paralel to every freaking miracle that Jesus did? Oh my!

  in all the hysteria surrounding the "new light" in the forthcoming july 15th watchtower, i forgot to mention that the magazine carries information on the "new governing body member" - who i think we can all safely assume is mark sanderson.. sadly i didn't get scans of the pages in question - just the juicy doctrinal stuff.

  still, i thought it was worth a mention!.

  speaker said we should not partake because when jesus arrives he will take the remnat to heaven and the memorial will be no more.

  just as we will not partake then (because the memorial will not exist) it is only logical that we will not partake now.
