I would think that this would end for good the issue of whether people who are gay *choose* to be gay. Why anyone could believe that so many people would just up and decide to prefer a lifestyle that alienated them from their families and society is beyond me. I believe that it takes an enormous amount of courage to come out and I admire the people who do.

An interesting article quote from the guy who confessed to killing JonBonet
by Check_Your_Premises injonbenet's body was found in the basement of the ramsey home in boulder, colorado, early on the morning of december 26. karr told reporters in bangkok that he was with jonbenet in the basement when she died.
but lara karr's attorney, michael rains, said his client "sincerely believes there was no christmas ... anytime between 1989 and 2000 when they were married ... when her husband was not with her and her family at christmastime.
ok, speculation alert... you all know where i am going with this.

I doubt that he would be allowed to rot in prison -- if he was found guilty and NOT executed (that must qualify for the death penalty...) how could he possibly survive prison?

The twisted words of the bible and jehovah is jesus
by sinis ini've been reading a few articles on the subject of jehovah being jesus in the new testament, which makes perfect sense.
as i don't believe the bible is the word of god (or has been severely altered by man), i do believe there may be some small shreds of truth.
could it be that yahweh in the ot is jesus of the nt?

Right now I'm reading a book called "I, Judas" which is a novel from Judas' point of view -- he did what he did to push Jesus into fulfilling his role (something like that -- so far in my reading Judas has only just met John the Baptist), not for money or evil.
I've always felt bad for Judas. I've been told that Jesus *had* to die, *had* to be betrayed by someone he loved. Jesus knew that it would be Judas...It sounds like Judas was set up.

Agnostic or Atheist?
by done4good infor all of you non-religionists out there: do you consider yourself an agnostic or atheist, and why?
it seems many ex-jws that "loose the faith" have a tendency to go straight for atheism.
i myself, would consider myself more of an agnostic, as i believe we have no real way of knowing if there is a god one way or the other, and it tends to seem just as extreme to me, to insist that there is not one.

I think that this article misses something -- or confuses -- the word "know" for "proof." People can know something (i.e., feel certain of the reality of something they cannot see etc.) without being able to prove it. In fact, if you look at the various definition of "know" it can mean:
- To perceive directly; grasp in the mind with clarity or certainty.
- To regard as true beyond doubt: I know she won't fail.
- To have a practical understanding of, as through experience; be skilled in: knows how to cook.
- To have fixed in the mind: knows her Latin verbs.
- To have experience of: “a black stubble that had known no razor” (William Faulkner).
- To perceive as familiar; recognize: I know that face.
- To be acquainted with: He doesn't know his neighbors.
- To be able to distinguish; recognize as distinct: knows right from wrong.
- To discern the character or nature of: knew him for a liar.
- Archaic. To have sexual intercourse with.
There is "know" as can prove -- and "know" as "feel certain" I maintain that I am agnostic. I don't know if there is a God. Atheists do not believe there is a God. I find that distinction to be important, if only for clarifying my own state of mind.

just imagine a spider human sized and its pray human sized. I doubt that even the sickest horror movie director could have come up with that particular nightmare
You clearly don't watch enough movies. I saw one just the other night.

Religion -- God -- played no role in my upbringing. I don't believe I ever set foot in a church and then when my mom converted to Judaism, I went to Sabbath School, and learned neat bible stories; but I have no recollection of being taught about God. My parents themselves go to temple on only the high holy days when they have to; I suspect they're both agnostic themselves. My husband believes in God and I try to talk to him about what my problem is. It feels like a fairy tale to me, not real. I don't feel any greater/higher presence. I'd very much like to believe that there is something more, but i just don't FEEL it. And something bothers me to "worship" God anyway -- it makes me feel like i'm groveling and obsequious.
I also have all the trouble with would I even want to honor the God I read about in the bible.
I know that this post is grammatically repugnant, but it's the best I can do right now. Why did my font change?? I didn't do anything.
**when I hit enter, my funky font went back to normal.**

The Gentiles Times Reconsidered--Again but this Time By Using the Bible
by thirdwitness inthink about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.
why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?
as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.

Did anybody else notice that my social invite got totally ignored (from what I can tell). How rude!
I'm pretty sure he offered to take you to see Superman...
The only question that I have noticed not being answered (and I started to do some pretty shallow skimming toward the end) is about the October 1914/ WWI starting before Satan arrived (except for one post, suggesting he got an eviction notice...) This does seem like a good question and I'd like to know if there is any argument relating to it.
Thanks.

How is this any different than the Salem Witch Trials?
Nineteen people hanged (including my 11th great grandmother, by the way), one person pressed to death and as many as 13 people died in prison. A little different.
