Toddler accidentally shoots woman dead in Idaho Walmart
by nicolaou ina woman has been shot dead by a 2-year-old in a wal-mart store in idaho.. .
the 29-year-old was shopping with four children in the store in hayden, when the two-year-old reached into her handbag and fired the weapon, shooting her dead.. initial reports suggested the woman was the boy's mother, but the police have said that this is as yet unclear how they are related.. source; http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/toddler-accidentally-shoots-woman-in-idaho-walmart-9950847.html.
i've nothing to add to my past comments on americas psychotic relationship with guns.

I don't get why anyone would need to carry a gun around, especially if they had a toddler. You are more likely to be shot by someone you know than by a stranger, and this is one of the reasons why. -

Someone I know told me a funny story about Edie Murphy, she claimed it happened to "a friend of a friend". I expressed my disbelief, but she swore it was true. The problem was I had heard the exact same story years before, only then it was about Richard Pryor.
I have made a hobby of researching modern urban legends. What they have in common is that they confirm a bias or belief and they seem like they could/should be true. I have found that people want to believe these things, in fact they get offended when you tell them the truth. It's no surprise that Jehovah's Witnesses are no better than any other group, or even worse, when it comes to MULs, the whole belief system is a MUL.

They came, they saw, they left...
by NVR2L8 induring the holiday period one if my wife's brothers had planned a vacation in our area.
they drove about 6 hours to a condo they leased for a week to celebrate their wedding anniversary with their married son and daughter.
they called my wife to let her know they were coming to visit us since they were 2 hours away.

JWs have been conditioned to think of family as expendable. You don't even have to be disfellowshipped for them to start treating you as excess baggage, as you have seen. Talk about "having no natural affection".

Any luck kicking the bottle?
by Ignoranceisbliss inas i continue my sllllooooooowwwwwww fade one of the things that i want to do is better myself as a person.
one of my biggest pitfalls has always been drinking.
i don't think i am an alcoholic but at the same time i've never been a very good drinker.

I find meditation to be helpful, I highly recommend it for anyone trying to drink less. Excess alcohol is usually a way to deal with difficult feelings, unfortunately it's a vicious cycle as knowing you don't have control over your drinking can make you feel bad about yourself, thus you need to drink.
I try to pace myself, and try to drink no more than two drinks at any one time. Drink water before to be sure you are hydrated and are not drinking out of thirst. Don't drink on an empty stomach. Try to set goals and reward yourself in other ways. Exercise will help you lose weight and also relieve stress.

It would be nice if you had the choice of going to the last page of a thread, instead of only going to the first page, making it a two step process if you have already read the older pages. -

The secret service is responsible for security for the president, not the FBI. You would think if they were going to tell a whopper like that they should at least attempt to make it remotely believable. -

Greener reminds me of the man who is being helped by the first IT professional, he is complaining about the new technology, a book, which he finds much harder to use than the scrolls he is used to.

What if.....the impossible happened?
by sparrowdown inwhat if the almighty gb announced that all shunning will cease, and next minute all the people who have shunned you start calling and texting saying "hi, we're baaaack, we can talk to you now!".
.
what would do you do, and how do you react?.

I could see them possibly changing the rules so that it would be harder to get disfellowshipped and also loosening the restrictions on talking to disfellowshipped family, but they will never give up the practice completely as they couldn't admit they were wrong on such a major point. -

I went to my mother's funeral, so yes. I also have two siblings still in, if I am around when they pass, I will go to those as well, which is likely as they are ten and fourteen years older than me. Family is family, they would talk to me if they weren't brainwashed, so I am not going to carry a grudge about it, and they did both talk to me at my brothers service.
There are five of us left and It's sad because I will probably only see them ever again at the next funeral. Stupid cult.
