  The election is over a year away, anything could happen. Hilary doesn't have my vote just yet, there are a few issues.

  Trump is a buffoon and won't get nominated, but I think he really believes that he not only can he be nominated but will win. I read a book on introverts that said the most extroverted people tend to rise to the highest levels in business, yet it is actually the more introverted people that have better ideas. Trump is the ultimate extrovert and he has probably never spent a moment in self reflection or doubt. Narcissistic personality disorder is very likely. He doesn't listen to his advisors because he thinks he is smarter than anyone else. He was born with a silver spoon and has bluffed his way into making billions so, so why wouldn't he think he could be president?

  Family Reuinion and Being Disfellowshipped (sorry...but it's long)

  it has been a long looong time since i posted on here, but never ceased reading all the posts and keeping up on the changes that have been going on!

  but it just seems that now i have a need to get something off my chest, and this is the one place that will most definitely understand the topic at hand.

  i have been disfellowshipped for about 8yrs now, and have dealt with the 'consequences' of that decision: all my so-called friends in the org left and i was also abandoned by my own family.

  And the Watchtower wonders why they can't get new recruits. Who would want to join a religion that treats people that way? It's ridiculous, nothing in the bible could be construed to mean that a person should not be allowed to talk to their own child.

  Good for you for standing up for yourself, you have done nothing wrong. Your parents look like the brainwashed cult members they are.

  That's right, because some internet sites are wrong, one should avoid all internet sites. That's like saying that one shouldn't read books becuse some books have incorrect information.

  considering the fact that the wt society refuses to release in courts any of it's written directions to elders through confidential letters to elder bodies- i thought i'd do the courts and wt society a "favor " by posting excerpts from this oct 1st.

  these instructions are very exposing of the negligence of wt authorities in how they view the seriousness of felony child abuse.

  However the elders will certainly want to be very cautious especially when dealing with one who had repeatedly engaged in this kind of wrongdoing or who had been disfellowshipped for such an offense.

  It's not just one time offenders but serial child rapists that are eligible to be elders. Why would someone who has repeatedly raped a child ever be appointed an elder? That is insane and speaks volumes about their lack or morals and common sense.

  Grieving for the Living

  i originally wrote this blog a few years ago, but yesterday a friend that is struggling to decide whether or not she will tell her family that she no longer accepts the jehovahs witness religious doctrine reminded me of it so i am re-sharing (with updates).. its not always completely freeing to come out of the closet (as an atheist in my case) and i wanted her to understand that.. i had a very strange realization recently: i dont know what its like to be someones adult child.

  my parents didnt get the privilege of seeing me come of age.

  i didnt get walked down the aisle when i got married.

  I am sorry your parents are so blinded by a cult that they don't see and appreciate the wonderful person that you have become. It's just so incredible pointless to shun a daughter for choosing to not be a different religion.

  I would print that blog out and mail it to them. They should see what they are doing to you.

  If you were my daughter I would be very very proud.

  Futility of being right

  so, on another thread, about pluto, grreat teacher said something that speaks to my feelings about religon.

  "i've kinda been sad since pluto has been demoted to dwarf planet.. you talk about 9 planets and all the little kids at school will correct you real quick and tell you that now there are only 8 planets in the solar system!".

  nothing in the universe has changed but the opinion of men.

  I think it has something to do with our fragile self esteem, we want to always be right so we will not be judged by others, and so we can feel good about ourselves. I think it's quite normal, we all do it to a certain extent, but it's also a trap, because we avoid situations in which we might make a mistake or be wrong and it also causes a lot of friction with others because everyone else has to be right too. How much time and energy do we spend trying to prove we are right?

  I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I have had some experiences in the last year that were very painful to me. It forced me to think about myself in a different way. I came to the conclusion that I am often wrong, in fact sometimes I am an idiot. Of course this is not news to anyone who knows me, lol. But accepting this and seeing that it doesn't much matter has been very freeing.

  I think this is why you get so many flame wars on the internet. People will argue to the death before admitting they might have been wrong. It's why trolls flourish, they know how to push people's buttons and will keep doing so as long as people will respond to them. I find lately that I can just let it go. So what if someone criticized me or a post I made, so what if they are completely wrong, I can accept it and see that it makes very little difference in the overall scheme of things, I don't have to waste time proving anything.

  Vertigo, WTH.

  I just remembered that my husband usually has problems when he eats a lot of salty nuts, he was munching on them at work instead of eating a real lunch. It may have something to do with being dehydrated, which is maybe why Shirly W had issues after drinking alcohol, alcohol can cause dehydration.

  update - for those of you who read my last topic 'disfellowshipped at 18' i am so thankful for all the support and helpful comments i received.

  it's amazing to know that despite how alone i may feel, so many of you have suffered the same way that i have.

  i know that i can live happily without being one of jehovah's witnesses.

  well another big bad elder here just wanting to say sorry.. i'm sorry that so many were treated like crap, and shown that god's love is not to be found around jehovah's witnesses.

  i'm sorry that inadvertently i've likely taught many to judge and as such see that racism permeates every corner of the jw world, else why else would someone be of the world, or even inactive.

  i'm sorry i sat in on a jc, and voted to df.

  Thank you so much for sharing your story. Don't worry, we all get that it's impossible to stay long once you see the lies. In a year or two you will wonder how you lasted this long. Fifteen years out the thought of walking into a Kingdom Hall gives me the willies.

  Vertigo, WTH.

  My husband had frequent bouts with vertigo. There is a procedure you can do yourself to readjust the crystals that are usually the problem, it works for him.
