Lisa, the linked document mentions "convicted" and "incarcerated" individuals. are you sure we can get at the arrests too?
You are correct, I should have said convicted.
im mad as hell!
how many times is another child molester going to get away with murder before the watchtower bible & tract society decides to do something about it?!.
a close friend who left the org.

That's too bad, but not unexpected, given what we know about how the Watchtower.
I'm just brainstorming here, but have you thought about contacting the law firms that have been representing Jehovah's Witness victims in the recent law suits? Law firms will sometimes advertise to find people who were harmed by bad drugs, maybe they can do the same for victims of JW pedophiles. They could do some specific advertising to turn up more victims in New Mexico. With their recent successes, and all the publicity of the RC in Australia, there is some momentum, they may be in a position to find justice for you and the other victims.
It's almost a given that there are more victims out there, it just burns me that these creeps can get away with it.
in the january 2012 awake, pages 28-29 there is another article about homosexuality.. .
the writers argue that genetics, the environment, and sexual abuse do not justify homosexuality.
the bible clearly states that homosexuality is wrong and is an abhorrent sin.
Getting married to Jack in May. We have been together for 4 and a half years now.
That's great! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.
I guess I should thank the JW's for kicking me out. They really helped me! xxx
Yeah, its hard while it's happening, but in the end you are usually better off.
hey all,.
have you seen the new video on http://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/activities/living-bible-principles/adult-survivor-child-abuse-video/ ?.
isn't this too much of a coincidence?
When I told an elder what my dad had done to me as a child the elder looked straight at me and told me I was LYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then the whole elder body said I was mentally crazy
I am pretty sure he knew deep down that you were not lying, he must have seen something was wrong with your dad to have instinctively disliked him so much. But he probably couldn't admit that because that would mean that the organization is not the perfect spiritual paradise they say they are, and that you had been let down by Jehovah's appointed people.
To be fair, many men, especially of the older generation, are very uncomfortable with child sexual abuse, so they try to pretend it doesn't exist. It's no excuse, but JWs are not the only ones to struggle with this. They are just one of the few organizations that still pretends it's not a problem.
i am fuming at the moment and my wife has made me so angry.. i live in germany and an ex jw, a friend of mine is also ex jw but does not understand english so i was giving him a rundown on the friday session of the rc with gj.
my wife was in another part of the house but heard my phone ring and so she came to listen, i did not realize this, because when the phone rang i closed two doors between myself and my wife.
she opened the first door and started listening to the conversation.
Your wife must be worried that you are right about the organization, otherwise she wouldn't be getting so upset.Remind her that she is not showing the fruitage of the spirit as spoken of in Galations. Where is her love, joy, peace, kindness goodness faith, kindness or self control.?
i have not meet all atheists, and it would be foolish for me to assume that all atheists, share the same prototypical view points.
i am inclined to feel that this classifies the views of a large percentage of atheists.
"atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.
However I still stand by view point, that it is Inappropriate for an Atheist to attempt to Destroy the Beliefs / Faith of another, if the Atheist is non committal.
How is you telling me it's unscientific to label myself atheist any different that my telling you that I see no evidence that God exists? Are you not trying to tear down and destroy my atheism?
Pot, meet kettle
lunacy?
insanity?
without a doubt.
Yes, this is the problem. The Watchtower keeps saying that they contact the authorities when the law requires it, but why do they need a law in order to do the right thing? They can say they hate child abuse all they want, but their actions say they value themselves and pedophiles more than they value victims.
What also bugs me is that elders had knowledge that allowed them to protect their children, but did nothing to protect other children in the congregation. For example, if a person known to have molested children has children themselves, what if they invite another child to spend the night? The elder is going to say no, because why would they risk their child being molested, but other parents would have no way of knowing about it, so they cannot protect their children.
i came across this story in the washington post.
it's nice to see they are covering the royal commission.
i have a kindle, everyone who buys one gets free six month subscription (it automatically downloads twice a day) to the post , so i imagine this will get read by a lot of people.
Young girls were assaulted by neighbors. Teenagers were raped by their fathers. Victims were forced to pray with their abusers.
When the children reached out for help, the church’s obsession with secrecy and hostility to outsiders kicked in. Victims, ordered to keep quiet, were forced to confront their abusers in person. All complaints — which averaged one a month for 65 years — were carefully recorded in sealed files, along with the church’s by-the-Bible responses.

The church, which was founded in Pennsylvania during the 1870s to promote a 1st-century interpretation of the Bible, has emerged as the least able or willing to deal with sexual abuse within its ranks, said Anne Cossins, an associate law professor at the University of New South Wales and an expert in sex crimes who is a consultant for the inquiry.
“I find their approach to the issue and victims extraordinarily bizarre — almost medieval,” she said in an interview.
