There are sometimes meet ups in some areas for ex JWs to get together, there is one coming up in Northern California. You could say where you live and see if there are others from there who know of any up coming events.

Clarification about two witness rule please .
by jhine ini was talking to a witness the other day , she was explaining about false religion, and the subject of paedophiles came up .
of course she was adamant that the watchtower deals swiftly and decisively with offenders .
i was about to ask if she was aware of the two witness rule and how that is a let off for child molesters when l remembered reading on here that now they accept two different accusations from two different victims .

I have no clue how you could remain silent.Rebelfighter, I am sure you did not intend this, but your comment could be read as a very harsh criticism of Possum. You were never a JW, so possibly you do not understand how cults work. Jehovah's Witnesses have been conditioned to obey the elders no matter what, she would have been expected to let them handle it and accept whatever action they decided to take. To do anything else would have been considered to be disloyal and unfaithful, a rebelling against Jehovah and his arrangement. I am sure this was extremely painful and difficult for her, but she would have done it because she felt that was the only chance for her child to remain in Jehovah's organization and avoid being destroyed at Armageddon. Of course now she knows better, but she made the best decision she could at the time, based on what she believed at the time.
I feel for anyone who has had to go through such a thing. The last thing they need is to have someone criticising them for decisions they made.

What does the JW organisation do for the world?
by Half banana init gives nothing, it only takes.
it preaches the end but continues to commute its financial ‘winnings’ into bricks and mortar investments and enjoys the prestige of a world-wide portfolio worth billions.
the constant postponement of armageddon only helps this business model so the administration is happy.

The Watchtower is a big black hole sucking up resources. Think of the millions of JWs and the good they could do in the world if they weren't trapped in the cult.
The money they can't donate to actual charitable causes because they support the Watchtower.
The volunteer work they could do that would actually bring about some good in the world.
The artists and musicians that can't bring their gifts to the world because the Watchtower makes them feel guilty for developing their talents.
The people working at low level jobs because they weren't allowed to pursue an education. The doctors and nurses and teachers that will never be.
The waste is astounding.

Have you ever stopped and noticed anything about the world?
by TheRevealerOfTruth inthis is one of the last things you are expected to do.
in a society that creates you to go home and watch the kardashians.
in an economic system where the currency trust is wavering on a private banking system.

ook at me, sitting here, wondering why I notice the world through eyes that could not see true evil. And a heart that was numb to feelings, due to the fact that the feelings came from evil, unnatural. Jehovah God is incapable of wickedness, whenever we look to see good will in the world - that is Jehovah. When we look and see bad, it is Satan, Devil, One who cannot be named.
If you believe in God, then you believe in a being that sat idly by while millions of human beings have been systematically cheated, stolen from, deprived of food, tortured, murdered and raped throughout the history of man. If there are such things as invisible beings, then he would be the worst of them, because he created the world where it happened and then allowed it, over and over, for some purpose that he hasn't fully explained and that could never justify the evil he has allowed. So many people have suffered, nothing can take that away.
But of course there is no evidence that such beings exist. Despite thirty years of earnest prayer to Jehovah, he never once responded, so I can only conclude that he doesn't exist. Despite being told that Satan was always looking to get me I saw no evidence of him either. Despite being told the bible is the word of God I found it to be confusing, full of errors and obviously written by primitive, petty and imperfect men. It's stories are very obviously fairy tales, told by the camp fire for centuries before being written down, and not even original. A talking snake? A global flood? Preposterous and easily disproved by science. It has some generic wisdom here and there, but nothing that isn't obvious to any thinking person. It also dictates that me, as a woman, am forever subservient to men, unfit for any position of responsibility, a possession. No thank you.
My happiness and freedom began the day I realized that God doesn't exist. I no longer had to listen to a bunch of self appointed men tell me what to think, do and say. It was like I was in prison and suddenly the door popped open and I could walk in the sun. The sixteen years since that day have been the happiest of my life. I no longer fear God's wrath or Armageddon. I no longer have to listen to a bunch of old farts in Brooklyn who presume to speak for God and who obsess over tight pants. I no longer have to live with guilt, being constantly told that I wasn't doing enough. My time is not enslaved to a cult, it is my own. I can't imagine spending most of my free time sitting in the kingdom hall being bored silly and I can't even imagine why any God would want me to.
FREEDOM!

Convention Videos: Someone messed up royally
by ILoveTTATT2 in.
when i first saw the video, i was like, "wait... is that her... panties showing through the dress"?and it seems like it is so.turns out that if you look at the middle right of the video, there are some letters.
it reads, "footage provided by pond5".if someone wants to purchase that video to confirm, you can purchase it here:http://depositphotos.com/63621499/stock-video-violinist-girl-walking-through-a.htmli think that this was a royal mess up because i doubt they would put footage of a sister in a skimpy, revealing dress.doesn't the gb approve this?this will probably go down as another of the "subliminal images"...if there are thongs in paradise... might not be so bad after all!.

Yeah, If she wore that to the KH she would get counseled on her "immodest attire" for sure. Also for having spent time learning to play the violin and for running through the fields when she could be standing by a literature cart doing nothing.

Why are some that post here JW apologists?
by ctrwtf inmy rant tonight is against the quasi religious apologists that post on this board.
those who at once rail against the jw's then later talk about how "orderly" and "neat" the witnesses are at their conventions.
those who site the benefits of bloodless surgery to some who have the luxury and time to actually make an educated choice, while ignoring the tens of thousands who've died because they happen to be in an accident or succumb to a disease for which there is no other treatment.. i understand the power of cognitive dissonance.

Reasons people defend the Watchtower
1) They dont understand cult mind control and haven't been away long enough for it to wear off.
2)They are having a hard time admitting they were completely wrong about choosing it as a religion in the first place.
3) They like to take the contrarian argument in a discussion.
4) They haven't really adopted a new belief system and it feels uncomfortable having no belief system.
In all honesty it took me years after I left before I figured out that it was a cult and was finally able to junk all the teachings. I realized they weren't god's spokesperson, but I still thought they got some things right, like trinity and hell fire.
