It would be interesting if they printed the number that were actually placed. Back in the early 90's when I was the service overseer, I noticed that the number of magazines that were reported as placed by publishers was only about half the number that were ordered by them. I mentioned to the circuit overseer and he told me that was about normal. So that means that only a little over half the magazines that the WT printed were ever placed. (Figuring the number that JWs got for themselves) I wonder what the percentage is today.

Printed vs Produced
by Rattigan350 inin the january 1, 2015 watchtower it says printing each issue 52,946,000 in 228 languages semimonthly.
in that 2016 #1 issue watchtower it says produced each issue 58,987,000 in 254 languages monthly.
what is the difference between printed and produced?.

26 Years Later

back then it was the wild wild west with newsgroups being the primary sources of information.
then came watchtower observer, freeminds, and all the other sites that followed jwd was one of the later sites.

Hi Victor, I remember you from the old days. I first met Joey Stagnitto in late 1993 when I was still an elder. I think it was him who started the Jesus-Witness mailgroup and later Yahoo group. I'm still in touch with a few of the old-timers.

Library now cleared out
by UnshackleTheChains inwell, it looks like the axe has finally fallen on our kh library.
during a deep clean of the local kh, a brother suddenly informed everyone 'whikst cleaning' that all the old books including bound volumes of the watchtower etc was to be chucked in the skip.. from what i heard, some were taken aback by this and quite annoyed that no announcement was made; that no one was given the choice of taking some of these books home to keep.
i mean the entire collection of studies in the scriptures and others that go back an entire century.

Ray Harriman was our CO 35 plus years ago. Reminded me of Tim Conway. Before the org got all weird about firearms, whenever he would visit we'd take him with us to the local range and do some target shooting.

Paul Illingsworth was a nice guy.
He was our DO 25 or so years ago. I was an elder at the time and our body of elders had a very unpleasant week with our new CO. The CO wrote a rather scathing letter about us to Brooklyn and Paul came to visit us. He told us with a bit of a wink and a nod that because of the growth in the org that when it came to COs that they had to "dip deeper into the talent pool" than they had anticipated. And he said that the CO was only there two weeks a year and to do what we needed to do to get through those two weeks and do what we saw fit for the rest of the year.

Toward the end of my 5 years as a regular pioneer (also the first 5 of the 10 years I served as an elder), it dawned on me that the door-to-door work was more about "rallying the troops" that it ever was about witnessing or gaining converts.

The rumor has been going around that this will be the last Witnesses Now For Jesus (WNFJ) conference. The truth is that,while this is the last year that the WNFJ conference will be hosted by Joan Cetnar,the conference will continue with substantially the same format.
At the morning session of the WNFJ today,Erich Grieshaber announced that not only will the conference continue,but plans are being made to expand the ministry of WNFJ. Erich announced the team that has been assembled to build this ministry. Different members of the team will specialize in website and social media,music ministry,and education. More details will be available on a soon to be launched website.
